it was good and close to home

A little on the pricier side for a Korean BBQ plate lunch but factoring in convenience it's ok. Combo plate meat jun and bbq chicken was pretty generous and the banchan was pretty tasty.

This spot has supported us through many a busy day. When we don't have time to cook, we know we can rely on red pepper to have healthy and delicious options for takeout so we don't have to resort to places like McDonald's. I particularly like the choy, jap chae and cucumber kimchi. When you want to indulge, their fried chicken wings are so good, with a gentle five spice kick, leaving you craving more. Their kalbi and chicken plate is another consistent go to for us. I also like to order a mandoo soup to eat the next morning. The best part is the friendly staff and especially the kind auntie who run this place. The decor is not fancy but the people are kind and the food is fresh. It's definitely one of our family restaurants.

Food seemed better than the last time. Meat in my seaweed soup was "souper" soft. And even Kalbi was more tender than usual. Wish they were a little more generous with the veggies b/c the prices are a little steep and other places pack it in. But it is definitely convenient for the valley...

Wow, talk about overpriced and food that doesn't taste very good. I stopped by after grabbing some stuff from Safeway. BBQ chicken was dry and stringy. Karl bi was hard and tough, also noticed it was cut thinner than yummys pr peppas. Also they give much less food and less vegetables that other places. It's almost like they just want to fleece the students from the university that don't have cars.

This place you guys gotta check out!! This place has good food!! Kalbi, bbq chicken, jap chae, fried mandoo...and so much more. The mini is enough for one person but the regular can feed two people if your hungry enough. They also have great ban chan ( side dishes) like choi sum and shoyu potato and bean sprout. And even...they have bubble tea inside too... honeydew, watermelon, strawberry and more. Come check these guys out!! It's a little on the pricier side but you get what you pay for...it's a lot of food. Highly recommend these guys!!

Food is "okay" but the portions are SMALL. For a mini meatjun, I paid around $15. I do take out on korean food often, and this is the only place that I find to be stingy on the banchan. They also do NOT have my favorite banchan, which is broccoli. Just by watching the woman serving the banchan, I can tell that she is the owner. Why? Because she takes very small pinches of banchan and makes SURE that she only gives approx. 1/2 cup each. STINGY. I usually get overflowing on banchan from PEARL'S KOREAN BBQ. Pearl's is the best. I was so disappointed going to Red Pepper's. Never again. I will drive somewhere else farther to get my Korean fix.

I was in the area so I decided to pop in for my baseline meal, a mini kalbi plate with glass noodles and kimchi cucumbers. The food was ready pretty quickly, which probably means it was already sitting in a warmer.I’d probably ideally give it 3.5 stars if I could—I might go back, but it wouldn’t be my first choice, and it’s a bit better than 3 stars but probably not 4. The beef was lean and okay, but it seemed maybe overcooked, there was something unusual about it that I didn’t love but I can’t place. The kimchi cucumbers had probably been made a while before because they weren’t as crispy and crunchy as I’d prefer. The rice was good and there was some extra kalbi sauce on it which was nice. The glass noodles were good, nice texture and consistency. It’s in a shopping center so there’s lots of free parking.

Good Korean food in Manoa! A nice clean Korean establishment located in manoa marketplace near Safeway, lots of choices to select from. On the day I went, I was greeted by a gentleman at the register whom I thought was not so friendly, but didn't wait long for my food. I ordered a combo meat juhn/kalbi and the food was yummy! The veggies was good too! I'll be returning when I'm in the area.

Visit from Seattle, WA and best Korean bbq i have ever had. The sides are plenty and amazing. I love the spicy cucumber kimchi if that’s what it’s called? will try and make it if I can’t find it back home. 5 stars.

After an annual session of family Chinese memorial practice of honoring the departed nearby (Aka Bai-San in Cantonese), it was a rainy Saturday here in Manoa and wanted lunch. It was one of those days in April 2023. Rainy and just blah. I decided to come to this restaurant because I was craving Korean barbecue takeout and it was the nearest shopping center all the way home or to Alamoana shopping center. I came into the restaurant which was pretty small, but had a couple of tables occupied for diners. There was about five tables total and the restaurant wasn't busy at all. So, I stepped into the restaurant and placed my order. It was a small, but friendly place where I could place my order, and leave with a smile on my face. The small mom and pop establishments are a dying breed so we must support local to keep them afloat in these times. My entire experience took about 20 minutes, from ordering to pick up and leaving the restaurant. The restaurant itself was clean and quite nice. The service was friendly and fast. For the most part, though, it's always good here, especially with the fish jun, since I usually order this on any take out Korean barbecue place in Honolulu. On this trip to Red Pepper Korean barbecue restaurant in beautiful Manoa valley, I basically went for the meat jun & fish jun combination platter. This behemoth platter sells for just under $20. You better believe that it can be enough for 2 meals or for two people. Or maybe just one meal for one person if he's really hungry. That would be me that day. They also have fan favorites like barbecue chicken and other favorite classics, which includes bi bim bap and assorted soups. The overall experience here at Red Pepper Korean Barbecue restaurant in Manoa Marketplace was quite nice, fast, delicious, and uneventful. Just a nice eatery to satisfy my craving for Korean barbecue that Saturday in April 2023. It was nice to patronize another Korean barbecue place other than Yummy's locations and Gina's nearby. The only thing that was interesting here was that they gave you a small little ticket for your order along with your receipt. Found that strange when I was the only one there in the restaurant waiting for an order while it was raining outside. I ended up putting in my order, choosing my 4 vegetables, and just sat down in the empty chair while I waited for my order. Once I got my order, I left the restaurant on my way to Ala Moana shopping center. The prices here can be eye popping, but it is what it is, where food prices are increasing and no end in sight. Red Pepper Korean Barbecue is one of those places where you don't see it until you crave it. I enjoyed my fish jun and meat jun combo plate that day. I think I also ordered a large fountain drink as well with my meal. If you are in the area and craving Korean Barbecue, come on down.Red Pepper Korean Barbecue is located in the Manoa Marketplace shopping center. It's address is 2752 Woodlawn Drive in Manoa valley. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. It's basically across the parking lot from McDonalds and across the street where the Manoa Starbucks is. Can't miss it. If you are a driver, there is plenty of parking lot here, but be warned about the peak parking times that may be avoided so you don't have to wait a long time to get parking but in general, there's parking available. If you are like me, bus route 6 comes thru the area and makes stops on E Manoa Road. My favorite vegetables to have are their seaweed, bean sprouts, and the shoyu potatoes. The kim chi is alright but enjoyed the choi sum too. Whatever you fancy at Red Pepper Korean barbecue, they just may have it for you.4.0 stars for the overall experience. 3.0 stars for the ambiance. 3.5 stars for the service, but 4.5 stars for the food. 2.0 stars for the prices.Support local!B
