The go to place if you around the Māpunapuna area or Saltlake area breakfast is always a must at Taka's call in it helps if you impatient and there lunch is hella awesome the place is small kine hidden if you coming from mauka (mountain) to Makai (ocean) opposite can find on the left get parking on road or up front of there place be mindful no block driveway even tough quick but go down and see what the stomach like eat and hopefully come back for another round a local place with local grindz

The hamburger steak is thick and moist. I think it's homemade but that wasn't too obvious to me as I didn't taste fresh onions in it. However, it was decent and plentiful. I sprinkled on Togarashi when I got home over the hamburger steak and thin spaghetti "mac" salad. The brown gravy was tasty, not sure if made from scratch. Enjoyed their use of thin spaghetti as it made the salad lighter.

Hands down the best loco moco I have ever had. This spot is super close to the airport, so we wanted to have a classic loco moco for breakfast before catching our flight. We called our order in through the phone and it was ready to be consumed by the time we arrived. It's exclusively a to-go spot, but they have a small seating area where you can eat. I was concerned about parking but we got super lucky! It was very easy to pick-up our order, and we immediately noticed how HEAVY the food was. There were generous portions of rice, gravy, patties, and perfectly done over-easy eggs. I had eaten so much during my trip in HI and wasn't sure if a heavy breakfast would hit right, but it did. I'm hoping to check out their lunch specials next time I'm in HI. Their bentos look so delicious!

The crew picks up food for lunch here every now and then so one week i tried the lunch bento from them. Theres a fish cake thing, couple small shumai, i think braised beef, a chicken wing, taegu, daikon, and kimchi. The beef was super good and tender, some kind of sweet shoyu marinade, everything else was good too but im pretty sure its all store bought and not home made. Good price for the huge variety of food all in one bento. Reminded me of a 7-11 bento but better and with way more stuff. I tried some of their plate lunches too but they were ok. A bunch of us got hamburger steaks before and everyone commented on the gravy having no flavor. The beef stew i think we also got and the meat was all hard but the flavor was good. The place is busy every time we pick up &parking is minimal so better to phone order.

Tucked away on Mapunapuna, I stumbled across this place by chance while waiting for my order next door at Kau Kau Grill.Got the lunch bento. Had a really neat variety of local + Japanese items. A good amount of food for the price point and the bento even came along with a drink!

We were figuring out where to buy lunch since places to eat in Mapunapuna are very limited since Ranch 99 closed down and someone suggested Taka's. This was my first time trying this place and the food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the oriental garlic chicken plate which was one of the specials of the day. It came with two scoops white rice and one scoop spaghetti noodle salad. The flavor was perfect, not too garlicky. I actually didn't go there, my coworker ordered and picked up for me so I'm unable to comment on service or ambiance. Next time you're in the area, give this place a try! Looking forward to trying other items on the menu!
