My first visit to this location was lackluster. Ordered a spicy ocean roll which was tasty but mostly rice. Golden Oolong tea was good but came out iced. I was expecting hot. Not a problem but I wish the server had asked if I preferred it hot or iced. Same issue with the edamame… this is the first time I ordered edamame and it came out cold without any seasoning. Maybe it’s a Hawaii thing, I am new here. Edamame options, like the tea, should be offered (salted, garlic, hot, etc.) Just serving cold beans is the work of rank amateurs. Sake is watered down, served on ice. this is not the way to serve sake. decor is dusty, an easy fix but also an easy indicator of what things are like behind the curtain (if you’ve ever watched bar rescue or restaurant impossible, you know this to be true 100% of the time). the place is otherwise clean. food and drinks need to be elevated to warrant more stars. My server (male) could have been more educated about the menu and proactive about options. He didn’t try to upsell at all (which is not a problem for me but the manager should not lose opportunity for sales due to undeveloped or apathetic staff).

Best small Japanese restaurant in Kalihi. This is our family favorite. We always receive great service and the great value for our meals. Love the a Agadashi Tofu. It's a must have for everyone at our table. Another staple that's always great is the misoyaki salmon. Can't go wrong with ordering that as a Teishoku or Combo. Well keep coming back.

I’m so happy we found this place! We needed a quick dinner on the way to the airport and noticed the good reviews online and decided to give it a try. It was delicious! If you like Japanese food you won’t be disappointed.

Please don’t come here, I don’t want to wait in line any longer than I have too!?. What a great discovery for me. Everything is authentic Japanese dining. I just can’t break away from the Miso Butterfish and Broiled Unagi. Just gives me flashbacks of when I lived and Japan in every bite! Great friendly and experienced staff. I have to make it here every two weeks or my Unagi low light goes on steady burn! Can’t get enough

Went back again for dinner on a Saturday night and we had to wait just a little bit to get in. We love this place because the menu is pretty versatile to where we always flip flop about what we're going to eat cuz everything is Ono. We landed tonight on the fried octopus with mayo (a little overcooked but yummy), side order shrimp tempura(I love the sauce!!) and salmon/ikura donburi(which I can never finish cuz the portion is pretty generous). Although the food came really quick, we noticed tonight that there are a lot of servers who simply walk in past you and don't say anything or really do anything. We counted six times a server walked past us as we obviously waited to order, menus placed on the side. Even the skinny Chinese guy who works the register is quite rude with his snide comments and high expectations for a positive response after making comments like "geesh rude", or "wow pushy". I would stop going here just because of the unappreciated comments and attitude of this one guy. Really not necessary to say things like that Other than that, we love this place and go for dinner and lunch often. It's a great neighborhood spot! Thank you!

I took my wife to Teishoku, one day to try it out. The food and service are both 5 stars. This is our new favorite spot to eat. The Ahi Sashimi is the best!

The food is pricey but it's very good. My favorite is the Shrimp tempura and the miso butter fish combo plate. They're always very busy.

Visiting my relatives in Hawaii and they reccomended Teishoku as a great first dinner option. We visited on a Sunday night around 7:30 pm and there was already a 45 minute wait for a table. This is usually a good sign so we had some high expectations. The inside of the restaurant seats a limited amount of parties, so I wouldn't recommend parties larger than 4-6 if possible. Once we were seated we were greeted by our server and given a menu, with he claim of the best butterfish in Honolulu. Sign me up! Fresh off the flight we were pretty hungry and this is what we ordered: Broiled Butterfish Teishoku: Amazing dish, the fish was flakey and buttery just as its namesake. It's a complete meal with a small appetizer, miso soup, rice and a salad. 100% recommend this if you come here. Salmon and Ikura Donburi: The Salmon sashimi was fresh and not fishy at all, huge chunks and really good paired with the vinegar sushi rice. Combo Sashimi: Again the fish are huge chunks and none of them tasted fishy, so fresh and delicious. Agedashi Tofu: Crispy on top and soaking all the umami sauce on the bottom a really great tofu dish. Overall very worth the wait and I wanted to shoutout one of the workers who commended on my photography light I was using to take photos!

Food is FANTASTIC but They never answer their phones! Why have a phone if you ain't going to answer it. Online reservation system is poor. It requires reservations several hours in advance

2nd time trying this place. I love it when they immediately greet you when you walk in. I ordered the 2 choice with shrimp tempura and Unagi and a couple of appetizers. Our waiter was so friendly and made a few suggestions, love that. I had leftovers for dinner tonight. Made our reservation through table check.com through their website. So easy and it downloads to your phone calendar. The prices are very reasonable and so delicious. You can tell they have many frequent returning customers. Lots of parking but busy shopping center with Long Drugs, Times Supermarket and many other popular shops. Try this place out and enjoy!!!
