Was craving for something Japanese and yet not over priced. Searched Yelp and came across U-Kitchen. Read the reviews and looked at pictures. A lot of good reviews so gave it a try. It's located next to Yohei Sushi on Dillingham. Right now, because of the rail construction, it's a bit pain in the @$$ to get there but it's worth it. It's take out only. So you order and you wait outside. I saw many do phone orders. The staff are very friendly and the shop is clean. We ordered Mechi Katsu, Menchi Katsu Curry, Mushroom Chicken, and Hamburg Steak with Egg. All plates came with some mixed greens and macaroni salad. The macaroni salad was not too much mayo so it was good. The Menchi Katsu was a good size patty and very good. Although, we didn't care for the sauce on the menchi katsu. It was a bit sweet for our taste. Hopefully, next time we can omit it? and just have the regular tonkatsu sauce instead. The curry was okay, just a little on the sweet side for our liking. The hamburg steak was a good size patty with lots of demi sauce. I knew I'm not a fan of demi sauce but wanted to try it anyways. They cover the patty with lots of it. A pretty thick demi sauce. The best plate was the mushroom chicken. the chicken was tender and the gravy was good, not salty at all. I'd come back for the menchi and the mushroom chicken.

I stopped by to grab an early dinner! The Mixed plate was excellent! We also ordered the Sukiyaki Bento, which was so tasty! You want great Japanese food then go to this place! They Close early but worth every penny!

Great place for bentos! Food was fresh, tasty and nutritious. Right away you know you are eating quality Japanese food when you taste the rice, this is good rice, fluffy and each grain cooked to perfection. I got their Sukiyaki Bento which comes in a fancy box with cranes on it. Good portion of tasty meat, pickled daikon, braised hard boiled egg, mushroom, carrot/tofu/cabbage/glass noodles. I have an allergy to garlic and onion and the person taking my order really took note of that. I called in my order ahead of time and it was still hot when I picked it up. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Can't wait to come and try their other offerings. They have discounted bentos before 11 am, so come early and enjoy!

Did an office run here a couple of times. Everyone enjoyed just about everything on the menu so far but I am set on the Sukiyaki bento. Its a must have!

It took really long to get the food. When I got my food there was hair in it. They do take out so I discovered it after and couldn’t show them. The spicy chicken is actually fried and the hair was stuck in the batter. They didnt have this item in the fried section. I wouldnt have gotten it had I known it was fried. My friend raved about this place. I say I am not impressed. There are bentos you can get for $5.00 till 11:00am. I called at 10:55 to order one and they said they dont have anymore. How unfortunate. Dont put till 11:00am if you not going honor it till 11:00am

Enjoy trying out new places. Decided to grab some take out. I got the salmon katsu which comes with Mac salad and tossed greens. My coworkers got the hamburger steak and garlic chicken. The salmon katsu was crisp and delicious. It was drizzled with some sauce but I added a bit more of the katsu sauce. It hit the spot. Definitely would check this place out again. Probably would need to go a little earlier because they also sell musubis and bentos.

What you see is what you get. Styrofoam (cardboard?) take out. Made to order - fresh (fried?) Food for the belly, not gourmet.

My boyfriend and I ordered the pork katsu curry and pork kakuni. The food was delicious, but we did have to wait longer than expected for our order. It's worth noting that this place is take-out only with no dine-in tables. The service didn't come across as welcoming.

A hidden gem so to speak... it's right on Kokea near Nisshodo. Japanese bento lunches that taste like they were made for a sit down meal with tablecloth and flowers. That good! We ordered Garlic salmon and Hamburger steak. Each serving was large enough to satisfy anyone. It included rice, tossed salad (with seared hot dog) and a delicious new Mac salad! Prices were reasonable considering portion size. Only thing to request is a larger scoop of macaroni salad. Service was excellent and the place is clean and neat. Open every day for breakfast and lunch. This place is a must and it is worth the drive on Dillingham Blvd too!

Located across HCC next to subway is where this hole in the wall is located. It's a small restaurant and I don't think there's a dine in place in there. Didn't really explore but I don't remember seeing a sitting area to eat. I maybe wrong and please don't use that against me. Bentos are cheap there. I don't know where you can get 5 dollar bentos these days. I didn't end up getting a bento because I wanted to try a plate lunch. Wanted to try a combo plate but too bad you can't make your own combo. I ended up getting the mix fried combo. The only plate that they sell that has variety in it. The mixed fried combo Came with chicken katsu, 2 fried shrimp and a croquette. Maybe I was expecting more reading some reviews but maybe I ordered the wrong plate. Maybe I'll try ordering something else next time if I do go back and see if it makes up for this visit. But for now I think the foods alright.

If you into Asian fusion, dis place is gonna blow your mind, no joke. Dey serve up some mean dishes like loco moco, garlic shrimp, and poke bowls dat make you say "ono" all day long.

I ordered the fried chicken katsu. It was crispy and juicy. It ranked among the best I've had.I received with my order a token for a toy-egg vending machine. I played my token and inside my toy-egg was a voucher for a free sandwich. I redeemed it for an egg salad sandwich. The egg salad sandwich filling was yolky, flavorful, and sublimely textured. The bread was chewy and surprisingly not stale for a premade sandwich. I shared a bite with my picky niece and she too liked it.The food was unpretentious and well-prepared. The hostess friendly. Pleasantly surprised!
