The staff were super cool; and once my friend disclosed his gluten allergy, he made sure to reiterate what items were cleared.I don’t have a gluten allergy and ordered nachos topped with chili and mock chicken. The “chicken” had a bit of sweetness to the batter, the chili was delicious, and the other sauces and toppings brought together a unique flavor for nachos. These were some of the best nachos I’ve had! The portion was huge; enough for two to share! I’ll definitely stop by Umeke on a future trip to the city.Dietary restrictions: Vegan

The mochiko chicken is a favorite. Only thing is I gotta ask for extra sauce. The mushroom Alfredo fettuccine taste so good I can hurt myself trying to finish the whole plate. Their plates portions are huge. They do curb pickup, but I think it's not as common anymore so I always tip. I do the curb pickup cause they're in the middle of DOWNTOWN!

Local options like sauteed taro greens with chunks of taro root, local style collards, and tofu musubi. Everything we had was really tasty, including the burrito with walnut lentil meat and a taco, and curry. They were generous with serving sizes and we had enough left over for dinner. Prices were reasonable. Very friendly staff.

Ulu spinach dal and coconut curry... Both smashing. Highly recommend a visit if you are in HNL.

Stopped here for the breakfast and got the egg English muffin (with potatoes) and the breakfast burrito (which I liked a bit more). Both were extremely tasty and highly recommended. We also had a day old cinnamon roll which was great too. Wish we could have stopped back in for lunch. Would recommend this place for sure.

Nourishing. Delicious. Restorative. Pono. This is definitely the place to go eat after a hard battle at the nearby Capitol, Courthouse, or other edifice of Colonizer Babylon. This is real warrior food that sustains and builds inner strength. Some favorites: the Nachos (omg so good!), the kalo stew, the spring rolls. They often sell day-old musubi for cheap; these are an amazing deal for a fast cheap refuel! And who else has a Kū Kia’i Mauna flag behind the counter in downtown Honolulu?? That alone gets 5 atmosphere stars in my book.Don’t take my word for it. Try it. If you are a kia’i interested in vegan food but a little scared to try any kine place, this is an awesome place to start!Kū Kia’i Mauna!!Vegetarian options: All vegan. All delicious.Dietary restrictions: All vegan. Lots of options for no-gluten or other considerations.Kid-friendliness: Lots of fun foods (go for the nachos!) and casual atmosphere where kids fit in well.

The staff were very friendly and gave good food suggestions. I enjoyed the pesto pasta salad. The parking is available at .75 cents per 30 mins at Alii place parking structure across the street on Alakea. The found the dining area to be a bit sticky.

Most of times when I eat out, I don't order salads because conventional veggies don't have flavor and crispy fresh textures of the nature's goodness usually swimming in the copious amount of dressing. The salad I had with detoxing soup was very fresh and delicious and sweet itself, I didn't even need anything over it. You can tell the difference in quality and freshness of veggies. The word of caution: I like the detoxing soup, but I believe most of people probably feel it's sourness a bit too vinegary. I would definitely go back to try other items.

This was our first stop after landing at the airport. It took us a second to find the place, google maps confused the location. We were greeted by friendly smiles and were give. an explanation of the foods featured that day. Some of the items were prepared behind the counter and others were made to order. My daughter enjoyed the Super Taco. The grilled burrito was very nice. The nachos were good and a very large serving. We enjoyed the falafel and brown rice as well. The cinnamon bun was nice. The place is better suited for take out. The dining area didn't have water, access to utensils and wasn't as inviting as the front of the restaurant.Overall a nice place for a quick lunch bite.

Amazing flavors and great setup with the build-your-own plate. Definitely a must try! The only inconvenience was the hours as we tried to visit a few times before but never made it before 2 pm.

Let me start with the cons/minor inconveniences- no restrooms and a bit difficult to find. The girls working told us where to find the closest clean bathroom, so that was super helpful. Despite the inconveniences, it was soo worth it!! So mouthwatering and delicious. I keep trying to find reasons to go downtown to visit it again. Most everything is made and ready to serve (plate lunch). You get to choose your proteins and create your own combos with rice and or salad for the plates. Everything was fantastic! We went for lunch and ordered the nachos with chili and Korean mock chicken, a combo plate, the crispy burrito, and some cinnamon rolls. I'm still dreaming about the Korean mock chicken. I can't wait to go back and try the breakfast! Don't miss the Umeke Market! Updated from previous review on 2023-08-10

I fly to Kona once a week for work and I found my spot to eat everyyyyyy single time I'm there. I only got to try the Hawaiian style poke and boneless kalbi and holy guacamole it was so ono! The parking lot is free and tons of free parking, the seating is nice and they offer both inside and outside seating. The service was excellent. I think they were training today because a girl was just following the guy that took my order. That's really good for training purposes instead of throwing them to the wolves lol. I'm trying the fish tacos next time and I'll keep updating my meal pictures lol. Def would recommend for all locals and tourist alike!!

We walked in and was greeted with the Aloha Spirit and beautiful smiles. We were first timers and tried the nachos, burrito, Tofu Poke and mixed grinds..It was so good I didn't get to take a picture of the burrito. We felt full and satisfied. The sitting area is nice they have local music playing. When you leave they greet you on your way out too. They have trash and recycling bins which is awesome.
