CLOSED- It was some great times at this place, family get togethers over the years. We just tried to go there today and the sign said, "It's been a great 15 years and visit our other location." Mahalo for the good times and great lunch specials all with a pretty view!

This was by far the worst service I've received this year from any restaurant in any state. We came here with my coworkers for a quick lunch with a view...huge mistake! We were seated, orders were taken. Drinks were forgotten. 10-15 minutes later drinks show up, dropped in the middle of the table with slight attitude. Orders were taken and 20-25 minutes later appetizers show up. Experience getting better as the coworkers were happy with the food...and downhill we went. A request for some lemons for the highly recommended calamari was met with a "oh you want limes too" and a scoff as the waitress walked away. 10 minutes later lemons show up with a huff... 20 minutes later and finally entrees show up. Wrong items brought out with slight apologies. Dairy items showing up on items requested with no dairy due to allergies...not good. Overall not a good experience with both the food and the service. The view is gorgeous, the food and service used to be phenomenal as we would come here weekly. But it's gone downhill. Will never go back and cannot in good faith recommend it anymore. Sad as it used to be one of the better places for a business lunch in Kahului...

Great food at the Dunes Golf Course. Whenever we get to Maui we make it a point to stop by Cafe O' Lei for their great offerings. Prime rib weekends are always a favorite. They are offering indoor dining again with proper documentation. In the past it has always been a nice experience, the last couple of times we have gone take out and they have not disappointed. I am partial to their crab club sandwich which is a focaccia bread filled with crab, bacon avocado, lettuce, tomato and a salad. Their spicy ahi nachos are also a great pick up and will satisfy anyone's craving-yum! When on Maui, Cafe O' Lei is a favorite dining option that we will always visit.

My 86 year old father and his girlfriend love this restaurant. Their friends love this place. My 76 year old mother thinks this is a great place to go.... Seeing a trend? Like my parents and their peers, this place is dated, old and worn down, in a familiar, comfortable way. The walls desperately need repainting; the floors, new carpets. The doors leading to the kitchen are disturbingly dirty, as if many many hands have passed through over the years with out much cleaning. Ditto for the bathrooms. Ditto the furniture. The food reeks of the same apathy.... Nothing is really that fresh or good. It is all substandard fair, but it is ok, and the larger portions make is seem a good value, for what you pay for is what you get. The ever popular fish plate lunch, panko breaded fish, a lilikoi cream sauce, served with rice and salad is pretty good, and a plentiful portion... but the fish is overcooked, and underwhelming. The burgers and fries are a safe bet. The chicken wraps are bathed in a cloyingly sweet sauce, and the lettuce that is meant to be used for wraps is consistently warm and wilted. Nothing special here, nothing at all. And finally, the hostess with her one job of making welcome the paying guests, needs a lesson in hospitality. Not waiting for the clientele to say "good day, how are you?", but to warmly offer a sincere welcome and greeting, to make people feel appreciated that they have come once again to a familiar place. Unless I am invited along to my family's favorite meal, I would personally pass.

As my husband and I try to find our new Anniversary restaurant, we opted for this one this year. While it isn't romantic in the least, the service was excellent and the food good. Overall, it was a decent experience. I had the Macadamia crusted mahi mahi with a lemon caper sauce, with the Passion Fruit mai tai ( I should have had the regular) and he had the prime rib special.

In the search for our Anniversary restaurant, my husband and I decided to try this place this year. We were lucky enough to be seated just inside the doors to the outside eating area and so was able to see the sun set over the golf course. It was spectacular! For dinner we chose the Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi with lemon caper sauce and the Prime Rib special. Both were very good. I also chose to drink the Passion Fruit Mai Tai, though I should have had the regular one as the taste wasn't really to my liking. We both also enjoyed the pineapple upside down cake with macadamia nut ice cream. The service was excellent and we were happy to have our vaccination cards verified at the door.

I did not expect a full restaurant at a small golf course like this but Cafe O'Lei has all the fixings. We stopped here on for a Saturday lunch and got seated relatively quickly. The waitress was very nice and our service was fairly prompt for how busy it was. There were a good mix of golfers and non-golfers like ourselves so this place is a destination to eat. I got the daily fish special and my spouse got the burger. Everything was well cooked and the crust on my fish was perfect. Nothing was super fancy or showy but the portions were good and the food was solid and I like that about some places. My spouse liked her burger too, more than Hula Grill on the beach. If you're looking for a no-frills place to grab a good meal, this is your spot.

I've been to Cafe O'Lei at the Dunes many times throughout the years and have celebrated many occasions here from birthdays to promotions. It's conveniently located in central Maui next to the golf course and offers ample parking. Over the years, the menu hasn't changed much. You could say, they have been truly consistent with what they offer. They also feature some of the same menu items at their other restaurants (Cafe O'Lei at the Mill House, etc.). Some of my favorites include the french onion soup, crab club sandwich, and their lettuce wraps. Yes, you read that right! This previously non-vegetable eating girl has turned over a new leaf. Lol. I most recently celebrated my birthday there this year as I was not willing to fight the droves of visitors for tables (it got a bit crazy over the summer). We were able to make same day reservations during a time where seats were hard to come by which was awesome. Since it was my birthday, I needed to satiate my cravings for seafood and ordered the crab stuffed shrimp. Huge stuffed shrimp made with garlic butter sauce, pancetta, parmesan, and served with mashed potatoes and veggies. It was absolutely delicious and hit the spot! I would definitely recommend a stop here for a nice meal that doesn't break the bank. Thankful for businesses like these that have been able to make it through the pandemic!

We visited in the late afternoon on a Tuesday. We were surprised to find that we were one of only a handful of groups in the restaurant at that time. We also felt as if we might have over dressed. This is at a golf course (which we didn't know - totally our mistake) so dress for the atmosphere. I ordered a steak with potatoes and veggies. The steak tasted fine. It was cooked well and the sides were tasty. The quality of the steak left me wanting. The views on the back patio were really nice. Be ready to shoo away some birds as we discovered is pretty customary no matter the location. The price was the best part here as everywhere else we had eaten seemed to be overpriced. Not the case here. Would try again if we had more time.

This place has gotten mixed reviews but you must read between the lines - locals like it here. And when we were here it was almost entirely local. The interior isn't formal, but you are here for a nice view of the golf course and onto West Maui, and for the food. Good island-inspired basics and nice portions. The prices were reasonable for the island and the staff (host, wait staff and food runners) were super friendly and professional. And no hassle parking. We had nice cocktails, calamari and crab cakes to start, crab stuffed shrimp and blackened mahi mahi for entrees. Food was filling so we took dessert to go which they graciously accommodated. The desserts were good but not a highlight. Would recommend and go back for sure. They are part of the group (I believe O'Lei group) and even went to their place 'Ami 'Ami in Kihei a few days later and that was good too!

Like everywhere else in Maui, freaky about masks, vaccine cards but otherwise a good experience. Food was terrific. If anything i wish the place had been busier. There was a quietness to the place that was a bit weird. Our waiter was friendly and just the right amount of familiarity as much as possible through a face mask.

It's actually Cafe 0'Lei at the Mill House since the moved and very disappointed!! Beautiful grounds and location but the food is below average and greatly overpriced. They allow no variation from the menu and increased prices about 50%. They used to sub brown rice or quinoa for white rice on request, but no more. They also won't add a side salad to a menu item. Service was fine, but very disappointing overall!

Great lunch specials! I always get the fish lunch special, even though it is more expensive. Because I really like fish.
