“After United Airlines cancelled our scheduled flight home nine hours after scheduled departure we were left to our own devices to locate lodging and transportation for the night since the Maui airport essentially closes down at 11 pm and the flight cancellation occurred at 10 pm. Fortunately, my wife was able to get the last two available rooms at the Marriott Courtyard near the airport and we got one of the last two cabs at the airport to transport us. The desk personnel were extremely friendly and understanding. The rooms were large, clean and well laid out. One room complaint though- the toilets are set on very short pedestals so it is painful for older, tall people to sit on the toilet seat. There is a small snack and beverage shop adjacent to the front desk and there is a bar area (closes at 10:30 to 11 pm) which also serves as a breakfast area in the am opposite the front desk. During the day they do have a free shuttle to and from the airport. There is a pool and nice grounds though due to our circumstances we were not around to use them. Room prices are high ($580 plus per room after taxes and fees). Not sure whether that is normal price or due to our circumstances (either way we were happy to have rooms to sleep in).“
“Visited Ho'okipa Beach Park yesterday, and all the food trucks (including Bob's Hot Dogs) and souvenir merchants are gone from the lookout area. Was advised that Maui County updated it's bylaw in 2020 and evicted all the food and souvenir merchants. Bob served up one of the best hot dogs, and provided plenty of interesting conversation. Would like to know whether Bob's Hot Dogs is still in operation, and if yes, where he is now located. A trip to Maui is incomplete without having one of Bob's hot dogs!!“
“I really don't understand why people wouldn't give this place 5 stars all around! Yes, there is no indoor seating but if you've actually been there, where the hell would they put any? It's in a small unit in a SHOPPING CENTER, regardless this place was great! My wife and I were very impressed with the food, the burgers were the juiciest (not in a nasty greasy way), the onion rings were fat and amazing with there dipping sauce they give you and the guy at the counter was awesome! He really went the extra mile to make sure it was a good time there. I loved the fact that while you're eating outside in awesome weather the wild life will come right up to you! Either way, one of the BEST burger shacks I've been to!“
“I love hot dogs so I had positive hopes for one of Maui's newest eateries that thankfully doesn't serve chicken!?Founded in 2019 in Honolulu, HI by Yunho Kim, other locations include Georgia, Illinois, New York & Virginia. Maui's sole location opened in October 2022.ATMOSPHERE:Located in the Queen Kaahumanu Center food court, they've taken over the spot vacated by Maui Tacos. Seating is food court-style.MENU:Corn dogs in nine coating styles with four different filling choices (cheddar & mozzarella cheeses and "sausage" whatever that is), cheese balls.FOOD:Mr. Cow Classic - $4.50It's supposed to be sweet and savory but I can't imagine a sugar-coated corn dog, so I axed it and got it plain. Same for the inside filling, nada. I wanted to taste its true flavor without any additions. The coating is rough like breading or panko, crunchy, with a pleasing chewy underlay and perfect thickness. The beef hot dog was smoky, firm and savory as expected. I squeezed on ketchup & mustard and really enjoyed it. Love that it comes in a box complete with a cutout for the stick as it catches crumbs, can be laid down without rolling around and makes for a clean and useful tool when retracting the stick so you don't stab your throat!Spaghetti Stix - $5.00I opted for no filling as it has toppings of a semi-sweet marinara sauce and soap box cheese (AKA Kraft). Another winner in my book!CLEANLINESS:Oh gawd, all three food prep workers sported long hair and no one donned hair netting. Eek.SERVICE:The cashier gal was very friendly, professional and patient.Order time was under ten minutes.OVERALL:Welcome to the Valley Isle. Not as good as the county fair's pronto pup but it'll do! And, get your workers hair nets!“
