It's not often you find the perfect dessert...but a Pono Pie is certainly a contender. Made of all local Hawaiian ingredients and without added sugar (just a touch of honey), these not-too-sweet, mostly-made-of-breadfruit desserts are the light sweet treat that leave you feeling happy and energized, without a sugar crash. They're free of dairy, gluten, and added refined sugar. I ordered mine through a farm share box (FarmLink, so great) for $7 each for the personal sized pies, but I hear you can get them at Whole Foods too. I had the sweet potato / coconut flavor and the coffee / chocolate, two perfect combos. Hard to choose which one was better as they were both just excellent. They were reminded me of a mousse crossed with a Japanese cheesecake...light, slightly sweet, earthy, creamy, cool, and delicious. The textural contrast of the filling with the mac/almond/coconut crust was so nice, too. Will definitely be a lifelong customer and order them as treats for out of town visitors! They are worth every penny and you are supporting a local small business.

Used to be one of our favorites but portions have shrank so container is half empty. And the the crust is no longer a nice compressed crust it was fluffy and not dense. Guess it makes product look bigger than 1/2 empty.

John the owner answered on first ring, I needed to order some pies for an event I was hosting, not only was he accommodating, he delivered and made the party! The pies were amazing, and everyone loved them. I ordered the Chocolate and the Liliuokoi (spelling?) We will be ordering again and again and will try all the varieties. There was none left to take home as they were gone in a flash. I was able to cut smaller slices and got about 15-20 slices out of each pie. I added whipped cream and chocolate drizzle to the chocolate pie and just whipped cream to the other. Thanks John! Amazing find

We were looking for bread fruit pie and stumbled upon their kitchen instead! They were incredibly kind and let us buy from them there. They even gave us a little tour of their facility and told us a bit more about the breadfruit too. The pies we got were so good I wish we got more! This was our last stop before flying back home and I'm glad we made the time to. Mahalo!

Lulu Levine: Thanks to Mrs Llulu Levine for helping me and my family trade, I got my withdrawal (cash out) yesterday. You're the best trader I've ever experience myself. After many times of been defrauded of my funds, i finally get to cash out. She's legit, reliable and experience. I invested $500 to earn $7000... Easier than I thought Lulu Levine you're the best trader I can recommended for anyone who wants to invest and trade with a genuine trader ..if interested contact her via

I've been looking for a great dessert here on Maui. So many fall short - too sweet, too big, greasy, not unique to the island. I was in the neighborhood buying fish and saw Pono Pies listed around the corner. While it is a bit industrial looking in the area - this IS where they make these pies - in a small space tucked away - they DO sell pies to the public so ring the bell and go in! $5 each for a personal size, cash only, and they are divine! We tried 3 types and they are amazing. 70% local ingredients and served in compostable containers - it's a win-win. A must if you are craving a sweet with aloha spirit of this island!!

My husband and I are all about trying unique local foods. Pono Pies satisfied that unique dessert craving, and was an unexpected amazing experience! To preface - we drove up, and literally had no clue where this place was. We knocked on the back of an industrial door, and was greeted by the most kind woman. She brought out four Pono Pie flavors. They all sounded amazing. Since we couldn't decide, we purchased 3 - chocolate, banana coconut, and sweet potato and haupia. And wow- they were all just amazing. Highly recommend picking up some Pono Pies if you're looking for a unique, tasty treat!

I was super excited to try a breadfruit in Hawaii! Breadfruit is used as a starch, so it must be eaten as part of a dish rather than raw. Breadfruit was virtually nonexistent on all restaurant menus: in my experience. Pono pies were virtually nonexistent in all grocery stores too! So, I decided to buy one directly from the factory. Google maps took me to Pizza in Paradise. I was very confused. If you drive around to the back of Pizza in Paradise you'll find them in suite 111. Ring the bell for service. The man who came out was very friendly and nice. The pies cost $5 each, and they only take cash. I didn't think they were the best dessert I've ever had. But I'm in love with this company, for they are trying to restore the culture of breadfruit in Hawaii! So I wholeheartedly stand behind this awesome business!

Saw the reviews on Yelp and stopped by their commercial warehouse to pick up some fresh pies. It is a must try for everyone. I love that it is dairy free. Ingredients are simple with fruit and they simply melt in your mouth. It's is so delicious as you feel the fruity flavors literally melt in your mouth and the macadamia crust's nutty texture mixed with the fruity filling. Reminds me Lindt's chocolate truffle.

Gluten-free & dairy-free chocolate pono pie is my favorite dessert on the planet! I was so pleased to find out it can also be shipped to the mainland. My order of 4 fresh pies arrived in the middle of Montana, chilled, in record time and in great condition. With shipping it was expensive, but we’ll worth every molecule. Mr. Cadman said these pies freeze well. I wrapped 3 of them in Saran Wrap, then in aluminum foil and placed each in a ziplock bag.

:( appreciate that it's organic and used locally sourced ingredients. I got the purple potato flavor and me and my husband thought it was SUCH a disappointment! $8 at down to earth and I wish I spent my money elsewhere.
