This intimate, oceanside spot is a favorite of ours. We live in Kona and we are really good cooks so the food has to be at least as good as home in order for us to go out! This fantastic location has had several restaurant incarnations over the years. Magics Beach Grill seems to be a winner that I hope will be around for the long haul! Overall, every time I go to Magic’s I have a good experience. For this visit I’m giving it 4.5 stars. This time we decided to try the Sunday Brunch. Everyone who we interacted with (host staff, busser and our waiter Michael) were 5 star in attitude and professionalism. There are three areas; the smartly appointed and decorated bar/patio, the indoor dining area with its beautiful wood tables and interesting artwork, and the outdoor dining patio, which is adequately shaded but pretty bare bones in decor and ambiance, where we were seated. It wouldn’t take much to make this area more appealing and equal in desirability to the other two. The Mimosas and the Bacon Bloody Mary’s were ??. We had the Mochi Pancakes (fabulous 5⭐️) and the Classic Beach Breakfast, ordered with poached eggs (perfectly soft yolks as requested ?). I’m rating that choice 3 stars because: 1, the ulu breakfast “potatoes “ (the primary reason I wanted to have brunch here) could benefit from a bit of seasoning, maybe a drizzle of Siracha Mayo (ketchup in a ramekin accompanied the beach breakfast) . The local sourdough toast was very good but no local jam…Smucker’s grape or strawberry doesn’t cut it; I don’t understand there not being any Guava jam; maybe they ran out?? The bacon and Portuguese sausage were perfectly prepared. Neither order came with any garnish to enhance the visual appeal, which would have been particularly nice for the Beach Brekkie which was pretty much white/beige food on a white plate. No salt, pepper or hot sauce on the (bare) tables. I get that the height of the Covid pandemic required the removal of nice touches like s/p and placemats but that’s over now. Magic’s has quality water glasses that are ombré blue and the blue cloth napkins are good quality and definitely appreciated over the plastic cups and paper napkins most places are still using. I very much appreciate the bar mats to capture the moisture from the glasses. Small touches make big differences ? Overall, I like Magic’s enough to return for an upcoming special birthday dinner. They are very close to being a solid 5 Star restaurant experience and I appreciate having a reliably good restaurant and bar locally available to us.

What a wonderful place to have drinks, eat, and catch the sunset. We had great food, Garlic shrimp and Ono for the day's catch. Excellent wait staff that are always friendly and helpful. Recommend getting reservations!

Absolutely fabulous meal and service. So firstly we were served by the incredible Maddie! She was polite, super friendly, has a wonderful personality and is efficient! That doesn’t take away from the friendliness of everyone else who were lovely, but Maddie goes above and beyond. Now the view. Gorgeous sunsets are a feature for sure. Finally food. I’m a bit picky as I like the temperature of my food to be hot, very hot temperature wise. I so often have to mention this when ordering and if I don’t when I receive my food it’s only like warm. Not here. No mention but super hot. Everything was very flavourful and the three of us all ordered different things and each tasted each others. I can’t decide a favourite but maybe the vegan curry and I’m not a vegan! It absolutely wowed me! So this restaurant was so good we visited twice for dinner in three days! I will miss this once I’m home again, but i have great memories. Maddie you rock!

Magics was recommend to us through a friend. Reviews and website were so good we decided to go. Waiter was very good. Food was okay all my dishes were too sweet. Curry soup was very good. The trouble started when a cute little mouse was running around at our feet. No worries cute little thing. Then several cockroaches were scurrying around our table I do not like cockroaches but we are at the beach in a tropical place. RATS!!! Three huge rats were on the patio then to the rail then jumped to the awnings. We couldn’t take any more. We have been here for five days this is the only place we have encountered anything like this. Enter at your own risk.

Enjoyed lunch so much I went back for dinner. Servers Annemarie and Heather, along with hostess Kelly, made it perfect!

It was expensive for average food. The burger was undercooked even though I asked for medium well. The salad was so salty it was hard to eat. All in all a Meh existence. It will be a bit before I go back

Great sunset place right on the ocean. Tasty fish tacos. Love that avocado was added. Rest of food standard American. Make a reservation so you get a sunset table.

Family dining, with spacious and innovative interior and friendly hosts, all on a heavy traffic, noisy Kona Magic Sands Beach in Kona, Hawaii. Waiters are very courteous and food is delicious. Fluent English speaking waiters explain menu (complicated wordings in description of dishes) and reasonable prices. Clean wash rooms, exclusive car park and excellent beach view. Bar attached.

Second trip here. Parking lot full but we lucked out and some left so we had on-site parking. Service not very good this trip. He was spaced out like he didn’t want to be there. Food still good. Dirty ulu is so good. Fish tacos needed hot sauce. All in all great meal.

The service took a long time and the parking lot/adjacent beach had some rowdy local teenagers. Otherwise, the food was good, and we were right by the water.

We took the suggestion from our airbnb host and checked out this place during our visit to Magic Sands Beach. Very quick walk, right next to the sand. It did not disappoint! We weren't super hungry so my husband and I ordered a couple apps, dirty ulu and beachside brussels. So good (the brussels were my favorite) and very generous portions....more than enough for lunch. Good mai tai too! Our server, Maddie, was wonderful and very attentive. Great experience!

My wife and I stayed in a rental right next door to Magics. We ate here twice for dinner and the food and service was outstanding! It is a bit pricey but the well worth the wait! You can get get a wide variety of adult beverages and cocktails, great beer selection, and the food ranges from comfort food to high quality dinners that will not disappoint! I would recommend making reservations as the wait can be long.

Enjoyed a leisurely lunch for my last day on Hawaii Island. We had a nice table overlooking the beach. Staff were very friendly and courteous. Enjoyed my katsu sandwich and maitai. Definitely recommend a stop by this spot for some good local food. Aloha.

I have no idea how I've never noticed this little hidden spot. I've driven past it dozens of times and never even knew it was there. This is a nice little restaurant right next to the beautiful, and often packed, Magic Sands Beach. To start off, the parking here sucks. A lot. Parking on site is limited and our looks like the hotel guests next door may use it as an overflow lot. There is additional parking across the street at a public lot but this poses a few issues. If the beach is packed, so is the parking lot. The gated section of the parking lot gets locked at night (or so I'm told by locals) so be careful and don't get locked in. The lit is also is a hangout for partying teens and young adults to drink and smoke weed after a long day at the beach. On to the food! The server was great and we were seated outdoors with an awesome view! The lit tiki torches gave the evening a beautiful Hawaiian flare. The drinks were tasty and not watered down. We decided to try 3 appetizers as our shared entree and we were not disappointed! We couldn't finish it all. The pork bellies were really good! Not over sauced or rubbery. The Tater Tots were pretty good. They use a teriyaki style glaze in the sauce and it was pretty liberally applied, making the dish overly sweet. I think the dish would be perfect if you order all of the sauces on the side. The overpowering sweetness needs some balance. Lastly, we had the Poke Nachos. This is not a small, delicate plate of nachos. This is a full on, pub sized portion. The poke was great and tasted fresh. Again, the sauce was overpoweringly sweet. Get them on the side. Overall, I really like the ambiance, the staff, and the food. We'll definitely put this on our list for next time!
