First time here after living in the mainland,for 43 years,small corner restaurant, busy small parking lot. About 8 dine in tables. Good size menu, they also do catering.Lots of variety for any taste @ occasion. Ordered their chicken katsu, from the friendly lady out front. Waited about 10 minutes for this order to go, box of goodness! Steady customers about 12:30 pm mostly take out, with a couple dining in. Took home & opened up to a full box of 2 scoops of white rice, one scoop of Mac salad & a generous portion of perfectly breaded and fried chicken katsu, comes with dipping sauce. A nice lunch & happy & satisfied returning customer!

I love L&R. So far my most favorite place to grab a plate lunch. I haven't been here in almost a year so there was a bit of a change to their menu. I tried their combination plate of BBQ short ribs & Beef Broccoli today and it's almost like I'm eating here for the 1st time again. It's sooo good!

An unassuming restaurant off the highway but super super delicious food. Great bang for your buck with big portions and authentic BBQ flavours. We had the BBQ meat plate and the special #2 (mapo tofu with Mochiko chicken) and couldnt be anymore satisfied! What a great find especially if you want to eat like a local!
I bought a seafood plate. It was terrible. The shrimp and scallops were over cooked and very hard and dry. The fish was softer but tasteless.

Tried the lemon chicken here twice now as it's one of my favorites when done right. Here I've always got one portion decently cook but the other piece hiding below is always over cook as it's left over from other order and re-fried. On the positive their lemon sauce is quite good and tasty.Parking: Parking is available but typically full due to a Chinese restaurant sharing the same parking lot.

I have been ordering food from L&R for years and have never been disappointed. Their prices are very reasonable and they give big portions! I love their teri beef sandwich. Tender, tasty thin sliced teri beef in a bun! My hubby and daughter always order the beef broccoli mini plate. Very filling for a mini!
Small local plate lunch plate that seems to just be run by one person. I got the chicken katsu curry and I asked for curry on the chicken katsu and for an extra order of curry on the side. The katsu was fried well and was super crispy and the chicken was juicy. Only issue is when I was there the menu said $11.25 for chicken katsu curry and when I paid. the total came out to was about $12.50, which made sense since I asked for extra curry and knew there would be some kind of extra charge. I made sure with the worker that it had curry on top and on the side and he said yes. However, when I got home, I realized there was no curry on the katsu and only on the side. My fault for not physically checking. Overall, it was really good. Just have to make sure you check your order to make sure it's what you asked for.

L&R Drive Inn, not to be confused with L&L Hawaiian BBQ, has been a long time eatery in Kaneohe. Parking can be difficult during peak lunch hours but it may be worth the hassle. Their menu is extensive and prices very reasonable when compared to competition such as L&L; they seem to set their menu pricing one tier below L&L. The service was prompt and polite from the lady behind the counter, and since it was not busy at time of my visit, my wait was approximately 6 minutes for my food. I ordered a Mini Chicken Katsu and will give my personal opinion in comparison to L&L's version which I and many of you may already be familiar with: PORTION SIZE: Equal between L&R vs. L&L. Very generous for a mini KATSU: Both are tasty but L&L has the edge with the chicken being more flavorful maybe because of a better brine or marinade for the chicken meat. The batter was fried just right and very crispy. I would say that the chicken portion is slightly thicker from L&L SAUCE: L&R sauce leans toward the thin side and slightly savory. L&L sauce is much thicker and milder. Your choice will come down to your personal taste preference. MAC SALAD: Both are creamy, pasta cooked correctly, and not dry. I prefer the L&R version since it was less heavy on the mayo dominance and tasty RICE: This may be dependent on what portion of the pot your rice is served from and how fresh it is. The rice and L&R was perfect for a plate lunch, moist but not mushy. VALUE: L&R wins for value since their pricing is lower and Chicken Katsu food quality good. L&R Drive In has good food quality, prompt service, and value. I will visit again to try more menu items (the menu posted in the photo does not include their combination menu which is extensive and posted on another wall of the eatery).

I always eat here when I come into Kaneohe. I love their BBQ chicken with fried rice. I always get that plate. They have a bunch of other stuff on the menu. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a small can beverage section and serve fountain drinks.

L&R is a small hole in the wall restaurant. Right next door to Masa and Joyce and a couple of doors down from KinWah. I had the Mini Fried Chicken plate as well as the Mini Teriyaki Beef. My daughter tried the Lemon Chicken plate. Fried Chicken plate is loaded. The chicken wasn't seasoned well but was alright. Teri Beef was good and my daughter liked the Lemon Chicken. Overall the prices are very reasonable and portions are good. I'd recommend this place if you're hungry and looking for a deal!
