The ahi nori wrap is to die for. I've been getting it for 20 years or however long Mermaids has been open, I don't miss a visit there at least once whenever I'm on island. Yeah, sometimes they aren't open when I wished they were, but it's worth coming back the next day...

If you're in Kauai you have to go to this place! The best ahi burritos ever! Such a cute place , supercasual , sit outside or grab something to go but either way it's a must eat at in one of my favorite places in the island.

Tropical tacos with chicken lived up to our expectations. Had a good amount of sauce with great flavor. Beans are good as well. Rice is not worth it. This was our third trip to the island and the first time we’ve actually been able to stop here - the hours seem unpredictable. Service was average. Not the friendliest but I guess not everyone loves tourists, surprise surprise. ;) Check the menu before you go for descriptions of the items so you’re not asking a ton of questions.

15/15 ONO! Amazing every time!!!!! The mermaid sandwich is to die for!!! They also have amazing poke and their specials are always delicious as well! My husband and I always make this our first and last stop when coming to the beautiful island of Kauai!

local family owned business. the owner of this gem was very funny had a bunch of laughs before ordering. things priced on the menu but I spent a little less than I would have ordering from pacos tacos or even mariachis. if your not looking for a drink this is the place to go for your taco burrito needs in the kapaa side. when you get your food walk on over to the park nearby or eat it on the beach. Location doesn't offer too many seating options and for the seats you do get their right along the sidewalk in front of the highway. so no to seating, great personalities and pretty chee ono food and laughs ! anything fish or shrimp related for the win

My sister and I ended up passing through the shopping district in Wailua a lot during our recent trip, and so Mermaids was going to be an eventuality. It was on our list to visit before our trip, and I'm glad we were able to make it happen. Looking at their menu beforehand, I thought we would be able to choose from a variety of veggie-friendly options, but we were limited to some "customized" wraps. The owner (I assume) seemed like a chill and friendly guy, and made a spinach wrap for me (with his secret Aloha sauce recipe, lol!) and a black bean burrito for my sister. The wraps were definitely filling and the cost for our wraps was relatively cheap compared to what we were paying for meals at other places around the island. My only "complaint" was that I wish we had more shade coverage in the limited outdoor seating, as that made it difficult to eat at the spot (eating while sweating is not fun, haha).

Nice location. You get to watch the tourists driving by as you eat your ahi.Like their wasabi sauce with their tuna wrap. And have nice cold brew teas.Made lots of good memories here before. If you call in advance and order, your waiting time is very manageable.

I was looking for a healthier option in town and found this place. We stopped by for lunch and had the best meal ever! The organic garden salad was excellent. Fresh and simple. And the tropical tacos (fish) were divine. The owner was wonderful to talk to. Very attentive and relaxed vibe. If you are looking for good food and want to be in the flow of the island this is your place.
