10/10, would recommend - came with a party of 6 during rush, they got us in in around 30 minutes.Food is great - make sure you know how to cook it! Recommendation for first time KBBQ-ers is to cook things one dish at a time in the middle, as that’s where most of the heat is.Wait staff are amazing. Genuinely don’t think this place would be as good as it is without the amazing people here. Our server was amazing, made sure our glasses were full, grill was clean, and food stocked up. Be nice to them or I’ll drop kick you off the coast

If you're in Hawaii and haven't been together again, you're missing out on probably not only some of the best tasting. Barbecue out there, but probably the best deal if you go for the lunch special. $19 per person before 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday? And then after that for dinner prices only $29 a person Hawaii prices?!? If you don't know that's awesome, then you haven't seen how much it cost to live in the islands! If there's any downside, it's the fact that they can get very busy for the dinner time special Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. But other than that you got to go there and learn how to order and skip the rice!

It’s newly opened. They should’ve got a lot of workers. We waited for an hour and another 20mins inside because they were so busy. A guy working 4-5 tables and also serving food while others just chatting while cleaning one table lmao. We spend two hours waiting and eating excluding the time we waited outside. We got in and waited 15 minutes before someone arrived to get us what we want which obviously we had to ask for the 5x and more. Food was served but no utensils, sauce, water, tissue. What’s more funny is that the fifth time we asked for a fork he gave us 10 forks when we were just 5 person. Plates are just so messy in our tables and no one is getting it! The cooker pan or whatever is already so black and burned and we haven’t even got our second round of order. Most unprofessional and worst dine in ever in my life!

The worst service i had. Waited long for food to come out, waited for rice ran out, ask for water, ask for refills. Waiter was just lost so sad.... burnt tops laying all-over other tables.... it was just a bad

Food is always on point because we cook it. Faves are smoked pork belly, honey soy beef, hawaiian bacon and galbi. Hotteok for dessert is fire! Love Kalei she is the bomb server!!

Went to Gens in Kapolei at Ka Makana today, our server Kamaka provided the best customer service experience by far. My family and I have been going to Gens at Pearl Ridge and we always felt like no one would check up on us and the food would always come late. Kamaka gave the full experience of what Gens should be. Ask for the Alawai drink made by Kamaka!! It was the best refreshing lemonade drink!!

Our server this evening was GREAT! His name was Mar and we'll definitely be requesting him again. Although the hostess was very friendly this evening, there have been times that we've come in and the hosts or hostess' are a little rude or don't even acknowledge us when we walk in. There should be better customer service at the hosting area in my opinion.

We're trippin' and stoked! $19.95 per person AYCE lunch offering 30 menu items with 2 hrs time limit. Catch is M-Th and no holidays. We arrived at 10:40 AM. No res. Hostess was kind and offered seating for two in the booth. Our server was on it! He took initiative in many ways. He changed our grill four times and almost went for the fifth; however, we informed him don't need to b/c we're done grilling our food. Also brought extra napkins, straws, chopsticks, two tongs, extra plates, refilled our beverages, and asked us what we'd like to order periodically. He was friendly, communicated his intentions clearly, knowledgeable, and informative. Lots of free parking at Ka Makana Ali'i. My husband ordered Gen premium steak, beef bulgogi, Hawaiian steak two times, and premium chadol. He enjoyed the first three proteins, kim chee and banchan. I ordered and consumed the following: Beef bulgogi: Yummy! Easy to grill and pulls apart quickly with chopsticks. Premium chadol: Least fave. Thinly sliced. Keep it rolled when cooking on the grill. Otherwise, each piece tears when unraveled. KFC = Korean Fried Chicken: Morsels tasted just right with drizzled spicy sauce. Deep fried mandu: Tasty with mild dipping sauce. Daechang: My husband asked me while I grilled this protein, "What is that? It's getting smaller in size?" I said with a smile, "Would you care for some ox intestines?" He said, "No thank you." I tried it once. Takes long to chew. Texture is chewy. I couldn't chew it down any longer due to thickness. Pairs well with sweet teriyaki sauce. There's no turning back. Garlic Chicken: My fave in taste. Marination and seasonings complimented each other. Dwenjang Soup (not pictured): I ordered mine minus the jalapeño. Comes with thinly sliced cucumbers, minced onions, soft tofu. Paired well with grilled garlic chicken. Savory! I took a great shot on my phone and now I'm not able to find that photo. Sorry folks! Hotteok: Highly recommend. Takes about 15 mins before it's ready. Order in advance with your Server. Divine delectable dessert aka Korean sweet pancakes filled with brown sugar, cinnamon, sunflower seeds, and peanuts. Loved it so much! I would return to indulge in more treats. We thoroughly enjoyed this feast. We tapped out!

When I feel like eating yakiniku, then GENS is my go to. Located at kamakana Alii. Parking is always easy to find. They had a wait list QR that you can scan. So they'll text you when your table is ready. The meats and sauces are always on point. Meat was well seasoned and cut. The sides we had to order separately. We during lunch time. The reasons for my deduction of stars was due to slow service and miscommunication on our orders. It seems like they're understaffed and overwhelmed. Our meats took way longer than usual to come to our table and the drinks didn't arrive bc the waitress said the bar didn't get it. So we had to place it again, but then got our orders wrong. No refills were given. We told them we were going to order 2 rounds while the waitress was there since it takes super long. She then came back and said the orders weren't placed so we said nvm but then the meats came out so we were confused. I would take the extra drive to the other locations bc this one was sadly disappointing since this was our 2nd time at Kapolei and both times were really slow with service.

Understaffed and it's not uncommon to be out of stock on popular meal items.
