It is different from Japanese gyu-kaku. The customer service and taste are not good. But it's crowded.

We enjoyed a quick lunch in Kapolei. We elected to let them cook our food this time!

My family had a party of 4, they sat us right away but everything slowly went downhill after that.1. Appetizers were ordered, took a while to get to our table, and gyoza was brought at the very end of our meal when we were trying to leave.2. After getting our appetizers we were asked if that was all we wanted or if we wanted to order meats too. Weird question, but ok. Because we had to wait to put our order in, we had to wait even longer to receive it.3. Meats were brought to the table, but no rice. By the time our rice was brought, most of the meat was cold.4. My 6 year old ordered the tonkotsu ramen, after waiting for half an hour I asked multiple times throughout the meal when it would be ready because she was hungry and watching the rest of us eat (she only wanted ramen). Was told “couple minutes”, “5 minutes”, and “pretty soon”. A whole hour passes, we got most of the food excluding ramen. At this point my daughter is crying because she’s starving and tired of us telling her it’s coming. By the time we got the ramen we asked for it in to go containers which I wish I took a picture of considering we waited a whole hour for a small container of plain noodles and broth. No meat, boiled eggs, or any of the toppings it’s supposed to come with.5. After paying and packing our food, the missing gyoza that I cancelled was brought to the table. We asked to cancel 3 items total since they were not delivered for different reasons.Overall we were offered some free items that were brought out late even though I asked for it to be cancelled. Nice gesture, but not really appreciated since it doesn’t really compensate for the terrible service.

Food was good. Unfortunately got ruined because we saw two roaches crawling around our booth and had to leave. Very disturbing.

The food was good but it’s not worth it, we will not be returning. We have been to this location twice and both times they were trying to push us out of the restaurant over an hour before closing. They make an effort to start putting up chairs, sweeping, and taking sauces off your table starting about 90 minutes before close, to make it as uncomfortable as possible for customers. This last time it took 20 minutes to even get a water and they asked us for our sauces before we even ordered. It’s clear the staff do not want to be here, so why would we?

We have eaten here a couple times. It's become our first night dinner place since we start our Oahu vacations in Kapolei. It's okay. We miss how special I expect Gyu Kaku to be. Something special is what we hope for but we find this location to just be okay. All the items are good, it's just that the service could be elevated.

Easily scheduled a reservation via OpenTable at the 11am restaurant opening, and was the 2nd party to be seated, while about 4 more parties entered while we were there. We elected to have the AYCE lunch option. Our server was wondeful - very friendly, informative about cooking times and questions about items we wanted to try , and quick to help and check on us, along with help from other servers. Food came out quickly and everything was delicious. Definitely recommend and will be back.
