Thank God I used the Google Maps app to search for food after visiting Pearl Harbor and found this place. First, Joe is a delete to speak with. Kind, friendly, good story teller. Double-checked to ensure we liked spicy food because the spicy sausage was indeed “en fuego”. I ordered the ribs and a sausage to try. So thankful I did. Flavor explosion and then a very nice kick. The ribs fell off the bone when I picked it up. Perfect amount of smoke, although Joe said he left them a bit too long for his own taste. Also just the right amount of BBQ sauce. Just enough that it didn’t take away from the meat flavor. Good sweetness to it. The big surprise was the coleslaw. Some of the best I’ve had. This place was well worth the price and a damned gem on O’ahu!

Omg! Just finished devouring my mixed plate from Joe's. Honestly, one of the best meals I've had in months. The chicken was cooked to perfection, the ribs were fall off the bone and luscious, the coleslaw had a kick of jalapeños and the beans were the best I've ever had. If you live in the Aiea, Pearl city area, this place is a must. In fact go now!!!

Heard about this place but never got to go when they were in Kapolei. Made it a point to get me some bbq. What an Amazing place. The owner was very personable and had a good sense of humor. For sure I will be giving this business more of my money. Give this place a try. I'll give a money back guarantee. Let's support this amazing place.

Decided to try out a food truck lot in Aiea on Kam Hwy across from Boston's Pizza. Of the trucks, I went with the mixed plat from Joe's. Service was quick and friendly. Im glad they took credit cards since I didn't have cash on hand. The cole slaw was different from the usual. A lot lighter than Im used to and a spicy after burn. I kinda like it. The beans were good; sweet with visible pieces of bacon. The chicken drumsticks were cooked thoroughly but not dried out. The ribs were smoky and the meat came off cleanly from the bone. Both yhe chicken and ribs had BBQ sauce that was sweet with a spicy kick. Very tasty. I got a new place for BBQ.

I no longer live in the area but I love the food here. The chicken is sooo good. My husband and I used to go there pretty often. I miss it so much! I wasn't a Yelper back then but I was trying to tell my friends there to go give it a try! Come to find out, they have! One day I'll come back to visit. Thought I stop by to show some love. I'll update with photos if I can find it.

BBQ vs. Caribbean. Can't decide? Well, look no further. Joe's got you covered! If you don't feel like driving into town to get your BBQ/Caribbean fix, head on over to Kapolei where you will find Joe's Backyard BBQ Food Truck. I was pretty fortunate to arrive while there was no line. I had the honor of meeting Joe personally and chatting with him. I have to say I did make the drive to his food truck for the JERK WINGS, but they were sold out along with many other menu items. He informed me he only had BBQ CHICKEN left. And then quickly remembered that the BRISKET was just about ready. I noticed the brisket was not on the menu and questioned him on that. Joe informed me every now and then he will whip up a specialty item, such as brisket, when he has the time since it's a 16 hr process. That's right folks, you read correctly. 16 hours! How amazing is that? We quickly got chatting about the menu and other items he's considering to add to the menu depending on customer demand. I found out from Joe his JERK WINGS currently being sold are the "mild" version of what he's used to because a lot of customers couldn't handle the "heat." But he quickly learned there is a small, but very vocal minority group that is requesting him to turn up the knotch and deliver the FIRE. And that's exactly what Joe is planning to do. Joe said the Fire version of the jerk wings will be made from a recipe passed down in his family, an authentic Caribbean recipe. The mild version is the same recipe, just minus the extra, extra heat.Next we discussed OXTAIL. Did I catch your attention? This was another specialty item not listed on the menu, but has been sought out by the fortunate few who were able to try this dish when it was available for sale. If you lived in Hawai'i for a while, there's a good chance you've tried oxtail soup with ginger. But have you ever tried Oxtail CARIBBEAN STYLE? That's right. Leeward side oh, how lucky you are! Joe with another family recipe, will be offering his oxtail to the lucky people who visit his food truck next week. But how was the food you ask? Amazing. No corners cut. Tender, juicy brisket with a side of tangy, delicious BBQ sauce. Even his baked beans were good all on their own. Pure love and pure flavors from a man who knows his BBQ and Caribbean roots like the back of his hand! Two Tips:1. Come early for the most menu selections.2. Call before you come to see what Joe has in store for you :)

If you go to the adventure park, get food from Joe's. I had baked beans, dirty rice, a roll, and the jerk wings. Best jerk since Jamaica and my secret spot in So. Cal. It is dry rub style and rather spicy. The wings come as a 4 piece. You get the wing and drumstick for each one. So, in my opinion, it was actually 4 wings and 4 drumsticks. Everything was tasty, and I'd eat at Joe's again any time. The gentleman working the grill knows his business well. Do these nice and very friendly people a solid and give their food a try. Sit at a little table outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and great food. You'll be happy you did.

Best bbq on the island hands down. The catfish was fresh, moist and cooked to perfection. The hot links were to die for and that bbq sauce was amazing. The service was A1. I will definitely return for more

On vacation and had to come back a 2nd time the day after I tried this spot just to eat this bbq again. Ribs so tender they're falling off the bone, smoked every morning fresh. Homemade hotlinks shipped in from California that are soft with the right amount of kick! I ain't a coleslaw or baked bean dude but their home recipe had me cleaning my plate.Seriously some of the nicest people and easiest to talk to running this food truck. Man is dedicated to his bbq, waking up at 4am to prep this food and the effort really shows.I'll be coming back when I'm in Hawaii again for sure
