Authentic, local and fair priced. Our favorite go to place. We ate two days in a row trying multiple items and they were all great. Service is equally good.

We visited this restaurant because of good reviews and recommendation .We were disappointed with food , for us it was plein but ok . Place lacks decorations. Waitress was very kind but we felt bit chased out when she brought us a bill as soon as we finish eating without that we asked for it .

Arrived late in Kona and was looking for a breakfast spot the next morning. What a great find. Super friendly staff and whole family loved the breakfast. We ordered a variety of dishes ranging from standard eggs and bacon to japanese inspired breakfast with fried fish, rice bowls and pickled cabbage. Really interesting is it's 4th gen family owned with original owner arriving over 100 years ago. Glad we came on a whim.

After reading about the history of this restaurant, we had to stop here for lunch after touring the Pu uhonua o Honaunau historical site. The restaurant was started in 1957 by Grandma Teshima, and generations later, the family has kept it intimate and customer focused. The sashimi was fresh and tempura tasty. We would drive here again for the Hawaiian hospitality and home style Japanese cuisine.

Went there for breakfast and dinner. Leilani ( I hope I didn't butcher your name) was amazing. She was so nice. Made great recommendations. The butter fish was put of this world nice white flaky fish that melted in your mouth. We also got the seafood teio special, nice crunchy fried tuna steak. The sashimi was fresh. We also tried the beef stew curry. It was not a spicy curry (as I'm used to eating) but tou could they cooked their stew for a long time it was concentrated in flavors ( I personally would not reorder as I am used to my spicy curries). She recommended we come back for brunch and we did the next day. I have spam with hasbrown and eggs and the sweet bread french toast. I'm a French toast lover and this French toast was nice and moist (just how I like it) no other sauce/flavors or toppings. The atmosphere is very cute and homey. I would come back over and over for their friend tuna and that Butterfish it was killer! They do not take reservations and have limited parking about 7 spots. It's a first come first serve and the full party must be there to be seated. Be patient and wait your turn. You will be happy you came to eat.Parking: Rights in front of restaurant about 6-8 spots along the expressway carefully drive into the spots and carefully pull out of the spots

Thank you Yelp! This was a great find. Excellent food! Friendly staff. I have a food allergy and they were accommodating! Cute inside.

It is written that there is a tradition that goes back almost 100 years. The store was full, probably because there were many local regulars. In general, the food is all cooked.I think it would have been really delicious if it wasn't so salty.

Family style atmosphere and food. We ordered the dinner plates with assortment of small dishes, fried fish, sashimi, soup and rice. It was like going to my family's house for a meal. Everything was good. One of our sons ordered the beef fried rice. He said it was good but too much rice. Our other son got the sweet and sour spare ribs and he ate all of it. Will come back for sure and try other dishes.

The food and surface was great. It's an old restaurant, but the food was excellent and the weight staff were very friendly.

This is a wonderful restaurant loved by locals. The building has been around since its founding, so it feels very nostalgic. You don't have to make a reservation and you can be seated in the order you go, which is convenient if you suddenly want to go. The food is very carefully prepared and delicious. We recommend the miso soup made with homemade miso. It's family-run and has a nice homely atmosphere. It takes a little while for the food to be served, but that's how carefully they prepare it!
