Chef John came to our vacation rental and cooked us an amazing four course meal with passed appetizers beforehand. John and his server, Tara, went above and beyond to help us throw a surprise engagement dinner for my sister in law. They even helped put out some decorations while the engagement was happening! My whole family was beyond impressed by the quality of food and it made the day all the more special! We would definitely use Chef John again when we come to Maui!

Celebrating our son’s wedding on Maui was made perfect by John’s fabulous catering of the groom’s dinner. Living Stateside, John was easy to communicate menu needs and scheduling. The day of the dinner, John arrived early to ensure all details were in place. Our friends and family loved all the fresh prepared food. Portions were plentiful. A big thanks to John for helping make a beautiful memory for our family.

After eating at another BBQ place on Maui that was rated the "Best BBQ" on Maui I came back here to update my review. This place may be hit or miss most of the time, but it Is the best we have on island! The other places don't even come close. I swear a lot of these "Best on Island" awards are all bought and paid for. Smoke and Spice is closed right now, not sure if it's COVID related or they just couldn't keep up with the bought and paid for competition. We hope to see chef cooking again here someday. Mahalo

This weekend I treated myself to the chicken plate. I do mean treated. I have no idea how John gets so much flavor in the meat while keeping the chicken moist and the skin crispy. The sides are well balanced to match the strong flavor from the meat. So ono.
