“We needed a quick bite while shopping and stopped in. Staff was not terribly helpful or friendly, but my order was taken and prepared. When I picked up, I was handed someone else’s food. I noticed the error. It just seemed that the staff may need more training or enthusiasm.I asked for an additional dressing and it really caused confusion.Food was good. Ordered a coprese sandwich which was pesto and mozzarella, not really a caprese and a salad, which was simple and good.Not sure I’d eat here again. Expensive and just ok.“

“I see a lot of reviews where people gave bad reviews for service. If you’re from the mainland I could understand why you would believe that. But, you’re not on th mainland are you? No, you’re in Hawaii. Everything here operates on Hawaiian time. That means you’ll get service when you get it. Don’t be a ōhumu haole. Enjoy the islands, service and atmosphere the way the natives and locals do.As for the prices, EVERYTHING HAS TO BE SHIPPED HERE. So is it expensive? ‘a’ohe mea ‘ino. Aloha!“

“Hard to believe you can get such great sushi from a food truck. I’m partial to sashimi and it is always fresh, perfectly cut, and beautifully presented.“

“Good fresh food. Reasonably priced.I got the daily special, an ahi sandwich with sweet potato fries. Very good. Ahi was fresh, perfectly cooked. These people know how to put together flavors. The rest of the sandwich was well balanced with a light aoili, pickled red onions and some other sauce that was right on.My wife got a fresh bowl, she said it was good.You sit in a laid back garden. My 2 year old had lots of fun exploring.“

“This place is a little slice of Kauai heaven. Get the Drift Dip (a must). Get any of their on tap brews and just mellow out and enjoy the music. Live music on certain days and the whole vibe here is chill. Service is great, attentive and personable. 10 out of 10, I highly recommend.“

“I’m writing this review 2 years after eating here because somehow I forgot to and I’m still thinking about the meal I had at Japanese Grandma’s Cafe. I had the Hamachi Kama which was amazing, but the strawberry cheesecake was mind blowing. I still think about it and now I just spent the last 2 days in Kyoto trying to find something that compares. It’s impossible! Someday if I ever get back to Kauai, Japanese Grandma’s will be one of the first places I go.“

“Excellent local spot. Prices are very good, and the portions are generous. The MCS combo with the spicy chicken was my goto. I also got an unhealthy amount of their peach cobbler...simply perfect. Service is friendly, and food is always fresh tasting.“
