This restaurant used to have small share plates and you could order several things. Also they used to offer an early bird special every day where the prices were 25% off. Used to be one of my favorite places to eat. Will not go back.

Honestly better than I was expecting. We're from Seattle so have some really great comparables; these guys are among the best. Fresh fish, good slices, I only wish there was a little more variety. Ramen noodles were fresh, broth very well balanced.

Reservations were for 8:15 pm. We were seated close to that time. We were seated in a smaller room to the right of the host stand with only four tables total. The noise level was intense. We were unable hear each other across the table unless we wanted to join the loudness level to hold a conversation. There was a party of 6 or 7 people that were unbelievably loud. The party of three behind us were nearly shouting their conversation to be heard because of the other party. Our server was excellent, unfortunately we had to have him repeat things because we literally could not hear what he was saying. I understand they were having a good time but the noise level was something neither my husband or I have ever experienced when dining out. We should have asked to be seated elsewhere. Our food was excellent as usual. We love the food and atmosphere at Sensei and this time we couldn't wait to leave. We ate quickly so we could get our check. Walking outside was an immediate relief because we felt our ears had been assaulted.

The food and service were excellent. Mike was our waiter and very attentive. I asked him to recommend rolls and his choices were wonderful. Will be back next year. It's an hour's drive from where we stay in Kihei, but worth the drive.

Amazing staff! Reservations were booked but they do take walk in's. We got lucky and got a reservations. The manager at our resort recommended the sushi restaurant Sansei. Mike was our waiter and recommended all the good stuff. We had to come Back a second time and sat outside and Chris waited on us. Sushi is amazing! And we got the steak teriyaki which was so good. Mahalo!

We came to Sansei for dinner because my mom raved about their butterfish and it's a pretty popular spot. We ordered the butterfish, a shrimp tempura roll, and the grilled pork chop. My mom was disappointed in the butterfish and said it was not the same as it was the last time she had it - I enjoyed it though. The shrimp tempura was fresh and good as well. The pork chop was pretty good too but not worth it in my opinion for the price. For dessert, we ordered the Kauai pie. It was tasty, but wish it didn't have so much chocolate syrup. The service was great! Our server, Nick, was very friendly and had a good sense of humor. He came by to check on us regularly and our food came out pretty quickly. The ambiance is casual and cozy. We dressed up but you definitely don't need to do so here. Overall, the food was fairly good, but not a place I'd feel the need to go back to.

By far the best and most unique sushi on Maui. Our server, Nick, was terrific. He had several tables and was on top of all of them. Don't miss the panko crust tuna, miso butterfish or shrimp dynamite. You can't go wrong with anything This is a terrific place

A little disappointed. We decided to eat at the bar. Our server was locked in to personal friends so we lacked in customer service. Food was ok, desert was better. Don't believe we will return.

The food was not good. The miso soup wasn't great and what you would expect from a sushi restaurant. The special roll was not what we would expect compared to other amazing sushi restaurants we have eaten at. Eating at one of the other restaurants might be a better choice especially if it's your first meal when you arrive to the resort area.

Our first time at Sansei! We will be back. We had excellent service and great cuisine combined with a relaxed atmosphere. The small plates were highlights - the lobster and blue crab ravioli, brussel sprouts and shrimp dynamite - along with the Sansei Special roll and the upcountry vegetable pasta (Asian noodles). Maika'i loa!

From the moment we walked in the door to placing our order the team who helped us was amazing! The food portions were larger than expected and the wine list was a good value. The shrimp was delicious and the ambiance was relaxed with a country club flair.

Wow! The sushi was fantastic, fresh, tasty, and the combination of ingredients in the rolls worked extremely well. My wife and I enjoyed the food, atmosphere but most importantly our servers (Megan) detailed knowledge and excellent guidance when we asked about her sushi recommendations.- which were all great. Overall I give this restaurant and the experience a solid 10. Thank you Megan for taking care of us!!!

Excellent grade of sushi from maguro to ika! The wait here for their happy hour special is reasonable if you get there at least 30-45 minutes prior to opening. That's the only way you'll be able to take advantage of their amazing happy hour menu, sitting at the bar and receiving the most hospitable service in Kapalua.

Chris was an amazing server, from giving equal attention to all his tables, to giving amazing suggestions from the menu. He did not disappoint one bit. He was knowledgeable on all menu items and when the seafood was caught. He made the experience 10x better

Delicious sushi (everything we tried was tasty), good service, easy parking. No kids menu, but they can do butter noodles, ramen, chicken, etc. Reservation is definitely needed.
