There are several interesting art studios and shops in the complex to browse. My wife purchased a scarf from one of the artists. The grounds are beautiful, and we were fortunate to be seated in the gazebo on the lawn for dinner with only three other couples, rather than the main dining area on the covered patio. While the food sounds appealing and was elegantly plated, it was underwhelming. I had their signature dish, fish du jour a la Oscar. It was bland and desperately needed seasoning, but I wasn't going to ask for a salt shaker. The crabmeat topping was actually a tiny shred of surimi, that fake crabmeat made from pollock. That was disappointing. I would go back for the ambiance if the weather is nice, but would order something else.

If you don't want to be a wait on us, asking how we're doing on the fly, tossing the desert menu as you stroll by, why did you become a waiter. If you're a bartender and you're yawning in my face while you're taking my drink order at 6pm, how are you going to make it to closing. If you're supposed to be a chef, how come you didn't learn to plate food so that the potatoes on the bottom are hot but the grilled fish on top is cold. This dinner will go down as one of the most dissatisfying of my lifetime. I had my wedding dinner at this restaurant 35 years ago and was so happy to see it was still successful and we would finally be able to go back. But almost from the first moment with the bartender through to the waiter placing the check in front of my wife before realizing I was across the table, there wasn't an ounce of professionalism. I blame the owners for not training their staff. And as customers, we are probably the most polite, well mannered customers they had all week. My recommendation: Don't expect much.

I do a LOT of research in choosing a fine dining restaurant. This restaurant exceeded all of our expectations. My adult son said the prime rib he has was the best he's had. My wife and I had the butter fish (nightly special) and the fresh catch Oscar and they were both beautifully presented and divine on the palate. Yes, there was a Luau happening a few hundred yards from the restaurant but the ambiance in the restaurant was quiet and romantic. Service was on point at every step. We will return.

We were looking for a place to have a dinner meeting for work. We made our reservation with Kalena over the phone. She was very helpful and asked all the right questions. She was able to accommodate our special request for our small group dinner meeting. Upon arrival, the staff were well informed of the arrangements and were ready to cater to our party of 10.Jeff provided exceptional service during our recent business dinner meeting at Plantation House. He effortlessly catered to our party of 10 with patience, attentiveness, and a delightful sense of humor. Jeff's dedication to ensuring our experience was top-notch was evident as he went above and beyond to accommodate our requests and maintain perfect timing throughout the evening. The restaurant itself exudes charm and elegance, nestled within Kauai's famous historic estate at Kilohana Plantation. The ambiance added an extra layer of sophistication to our gathering, enhancing the overall atmosphere. Thanks to Jeff's impeccable service and the restaurant's inviting setting, our team had a memorable and enjoyable evening. Without a doubt, we will be returning to Plantation House for future business engagements, confident in the exceptional service provided by Jeff and the delightful ambiance of the venue.

This is a tough one. Ambiance, our waiter Craig, the boy who kept our water glass filled were all 5stars. The salad was delicious and well seasoned and the French Onion soup was as well and piping hot. Drinks were perfectly made. Here's where the compliments end. My husband and I both ordered the prime rib which was not prime rib at all. It was a piece of the toughest steak we had ever eaten placed on a grill and smoked. We just ate it but probably would have said something if not for the man seated behind us who had to send his rare steak back to be cooked more and he didn't get it back for at least 10 minutes. So we just ate it. I should have read the reviews that brought this up about the prime rib. And it wasn't cheap either but that never matters to us if the food is good and comes out hot. I hate to give a review like this, but I just wanted to join the chorus of people on here that had the prime rib.

We did a island hop to Kauai for my Mom birthday everything was great, the only wish was that my Mom could of had Mash potatoes with her prime rib which is only served on the dinner menu. Train Ride is a must, go see Tiny he was a great and made it pleasant and all worth the ride

The food here is the best on the island and the service and ambiance are top-notch. We have been coming to this island for 15+ years and have tried most if not all of the nice restaurants. Gaylord's has the best local fresh catch fish dishes. Also great ribs and prime rib entrees... my sister who is plant based said her meal was delicious as well...the service was great and the ambience is very nice. You can actually have a conversation and hear the person across from you....great kids menu as well.

Food was outstanding. Probably the best monchong ever. Service not so good. Very long dining experience. Waiter informed us slow service due to being under staffed. Later informed our order wasn't placed. In any event the quality of food was worth the wait. Top service from the young man filling water glass. He was the friendliest and seemed to truly appreciate his job

We were seated next to a family that could not control their children. They spent more time chasing them around the property than eating. Needed to be moved to another table. Service was glacial and the food solo.

While the setting was very nice and the service excellent the food was very mediocre and drinks not worth it. The ahi poke stack was nice portion and lots of good ingredients but drowning in sauce. Ahi steak on soba noodles very mediocre and while Portugese stew had fabulous amount of fish and seafood the sauce was just mediocre. Plus while I'm a visitor to Kauai this is a true tourist location with 4 bus loads of people there for luau and dinner.

The ambiance at the plantation house is amazing. We had a reservation so we were sat on the covered deck area. The service was absolutely amazing! Anastasia was so sweet and went above and beyond to make our honeymoon dinner exceptional! The food was outstanding, cooked perfectly, and tasted wonderful! From the focaccia bread and balsamic vinaigrette to the dessert, everything was delicious.

They were late seating us for our reservation and there were numerous open tables. After be seated at the table, it took 10-15 minutes for the server to arrive to wait on us. She came by several times only to tell us that she “would be with us in a minute”.She did seem busy as they apparently just seated a 6 person table in her section just before we were seated. The Ceasar salad was delicious, however, the pork shank was lukewarm (at best) when it arrived at the table as was the shrimp dish.
