No water refills. Server and host were friendly. Ordered calamari, a mock tail, caprese salad, and Margherita flat bread. The calamari was a little chewy. I've had better calamari in Indiana. The flatbread was okay. The caprese salad was pretty good. Nice ambiance! Went to see the manta rays after dinner which was cool.

Our party of 5 was seated at our table at 6:40 and we ordered. At 7:30 our appetizers came. At 8:00pm, I asked if someone could check on our food and was told it would be 15 minutes. I asked to speak to the manager at 8:15pm when our food was not there but two other tables who had arrived after us had been served (one was a bigger party than us too). The waitress told me she would get the manager but that they were taking our food off the grill currently. At 8:30, the manager had still not come and neither had our food. It was not super busy either. We left and will not be coming back as we had to get our kid to bed. I am extremely disappointed in this experience as I had always heard such nice things about the Mauna Kea and this was my first time at their hotel. For a restaurant in a 5 star hotel, I would expect better service and communication. I realize that waitresses have no control over the kitchen staff, but the fact that the manager couldn’t even be bothered to come and speak with us speaks volumes about how this restaurant is being run.

Noisy little children everywhere... even at 8:00 p.m. Service was sluggish. Beet salad with Mahi was great. Mahi special with squash risotto could have had a greater amount of squash to rice ratio in my opinion. Wine selection by the glass was good. Music was nice when we could hear it over the chaos around us. We won't be back. We are too old to enjoy an expensive meal amid such a noisy family settling.

Food was very good however the mai frozen tai cocktail was forgettable and expensive . It was one on the poorest I've had. The hula dancer was excellent and the music was good. The ambience was excellent. That alone made the dinner worth it.

What was meant to be a celebration of a milestone birthday was spent salvaging a disaster of a restaurant experience. It reminded me of the last time I ate at Buffalo Wild Wings. I very rarely post negative comments, but the food was such poor quality, being seated next to a giant television flashing in my face, and our table was right under a blinding flood light. Please try harder there are too many good restaurants on this island to ever come back.

The food was good but the service was poor and inattentive. We waited 20 minutes from being seated to the server taking our drinks order. A further 40 minutes before our appetiser arrived

Excellent place for our last night's dinner in Kona. The ambiance, alone, with it's cozy lighting, unmatched open view of the sunset and the gentle melody of soft live music, is unlike any place I have ever been. The service and food were wonderful, as well.

This ocean facing venue is perfect for singles, couples or families. The live Hawaiian music added to the wind and the rare rain. I watched the sun set and the moon rise in a magical setting. Crystal, the waitstaff, special ordered a virgin lilikoi daiquiri for me and paced the meal perfectly. Oftentimes a single diner can be rushed or put into a terrible seat: not at the Mauna Kea Copper Bar. I felt like a treasured guest. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The daily catch was amazing. The cocktails are great though very expensive (as one would guess). Service was stellar and the live music was awesome. They take allergies seriously and make sure to communicate the needs carefully without making it a big deal. Cost aside this was our best meal at the Mauna Kea resort (both hotels)

Such a pleasant evening at the Copper Bar last night. The bartenders know how to make amazing drinks, from their specialties to simple drinks. The Cohoun flatbread had amazing flavor combinations , the prosciutto on it was so delicious and I usually don't like prosciutto. The Kona ice cream dessert with puff pastry was excellent.... The chefs here really know how to combine flavors. Couldn't recommend the Copper bar more!!! 6 stars!
Worth the view. Oceans a plenty and we even saw whales. Place is immaculate and has gorgeous landscapes. We made a reservation and were still seated after walk ups. We arrived plenty early and were still seated 10 minutes past reservation (cancellation fee 50/person) so show up! Our table was communal and not the intimate beach view comfort we were looking for. Not best place for a Valentine's Day dinner.

Beautiful setting and great flexible menu that allows for healthish and also fun snack eating as well as full dinners. Loved the Broccolini, flatbreads, and sashimi as well as nice cocktail list. The music and hula dancer added to the very nice atmosphere.

We arrived at 7:10 for 7:15 reservations and table was not available for st least 30 minutes. However looking around, there were several empty tables. After 20 minutes of waiting, we decided to order food at bar and take back to our room. Very disappointed after a long travel day and we had made our reservations at least one week in advance.

The hostess was very kind to help us get in early because our daughter's flight was arriving 45 minutes early. Ditto the server. She was ultra kind and helped us with expedient and good service.

Average, overpriced resort food. But at least the poor bloke they have perform plays “somewhere over the rainbow” EVERY NIGHT. brutal.
