Food rating: Garlic shrimp and pork chop plate is really good from here! Seafood combo is what my fiancé's grandparents get all the time. It is outdated-but honestly I don't come to dine in. I just order, pickup and enjoy at home or the park.

Not too many people knows about this place because it's a small little family owned food joint tucked away in the corner in waipahu. If you are craving comfort local food, this is the place to come. I guess I can compare it to an L&L but cheaper. I'll definitely come and support local here. They are a nice family owned restaurant. They were closing in about 10 minutes and they still took my order. I didnt mind waiting. Lots of parking out front. I have to come back and try the other plates.

Hands down the best hole in the wall place in Waipahu! So cheap and great food !! Their loco moco is always my go to and short rib is super cheap compare to other places. Always a great place to eat when you don't wanna cook at home LOL

I come to the conclusion that these drive in Inns are all somewhat a chain type? They all have similar menu (sorry if not allowed or not) but been to Liliha Drive Inn and Koolau Drive inn recently and they all have about the same menu as they do here. No big deal really as now I know what I'm expecting. I always 80% of the time get the same thing anyway lol. My go to is always the Mix Plate with Beef stew since I get a little of everything and the leftover is for dinner. Hamburger steak here little on the thinner side but still tender and flavorful. In other words the Burgers are good here for the price. Teri beef is ok like most places and the beef stew is good with nice amount of meat to veggies. Stuck in the corner of the strip mall at the other end of Elena's or next to Da Poke. Will come by again if I in the area feeling for simple plate lunches at reasonable prices

For Friday (yesterday), I bought the Fried Noodles with Beef for lunch (they call it 'Beef Fried Noodles') ... first time to buy this item...all noodles, no mac salad or rice included. This dish is Only served as a regular sized plate at $8.95. Note that this item only appears on the printed menu handout and on the pictured wall of OTHER items located to the direct left of the cash register. These items there on the wall are NOT indicated on the upper menu board of plate items behind the cash register ---- so don't be quick to judge and order thinking that upper/back menu board are the only items they make. no no no ! Meals are always cook to order - so if you are in a rush, you would best to call the order in. It took me about 17 minutes to get my plate lunch, but as I have been here somewhat regularly almost every week, I know the drill. Honestly, when she handed me the package with my styrofoam box plate, it felt way past two pounds worth ! Brought it home and saw their teri beef thinly cut (not wafer thin) into several 2-3 inch strips with onions, cabbage, carrots all stir fried in a wok...don't know what sauce is included...but definitely can taste the flavor of being stir fried in a wok --- likely some oyster sauce with perhaps a little black bean sauce ? Don't know but it was delicious. They pack the noodles --- well worth the cost ! Enough to feed three or four young teenaged females or one bruddah, BUT with extras left over ! I couldn't eat it all --- maybe ate 3/5s ...I ate the rest for dinner. Get this plate, or get this for an inexpensive side platter dish if you having a party...less expensive than getting a small tray/pan ! Remember, cash ONLY !

I'm a native of Waipahu and have been coming to B&L Drive Inn for years. This is a classic hole-in-the-wall place that provides great food at low prices. They are family owned and operated. I strongly recommend the BBQ short ribs. In my opinion they have the best BBQ short ribs in the entire Leeward side of Oahu, even better than some of the more well-known restaurants. Their short ribs are the standard that I compare all other short ribs to. Whenever I'm out with friends at a different restaurant that supposedly has good short ribs, I'm always left somewhat disappointed because their short ribs are just never as good as B & L's! B & L's short ribs have a certain type of smokey taste to it that really brings out the flavor. It's hard to describe. You just have to try it for yourself! They sell it as a lunch plate or in large party size platters. They also make great french fries (large portions at low prices), burgers, etc. I prefer B&L Drive Inn over L&L and other nearby drive inns. I even prefer them over Leeward Drive Inn, which I'm also a fan of. Leeward Drive Inn makes good food too, but the real difference is the wait time. Leeward Drive Inn is notoriously slow. Sometimes you have to wait 20-30 minutes just for a standard order - even if you place a phone order! This is not the case at B & L. B & L is smaller, and is very fast and courteous, and their prices are lower than their competitors. If you live or work in the Waipahu area, you simply have to check out B&L Drive Inn.
