Love the look, feel, and taste of Highway Inn! Local style food, palaka print curtains and sugar plantation historic photos all provide a uniquely special touch. Delicious dishes and lots of good food to choose from. Portions are large. The poi is nicely chilled. Highly recommend!

First I’d like to point out the food and our server Kassidy! She was very attentive and handled our large party like a champ! We’ve been coming to Highway Inn for years and the food is always delicious and consistent! However, when we first arrived we told the manager we had a party of 23. We were out celebrating multiple occasions as a family. She continued to ask us how many of us were splitting checks and how many families we had in our party. She then sat us all SEPARATELY in different sections spread across the empty dining room. It made all of us a little upset because it defeated the purpose of us showing up as a group. We asked numerous times why we were separated and we were told it’s because servers have different sections. I finally asked the manager one more time if we could sit together. She asked “you would rather sit all on one long table than be spread out?” Seriously?Thankfully they were able to accommodate us after asking numerous times. It just didn’t make sense to separate the party. If we wanted to sit separately, we would’ve showed up separately. We didn’t mean to be difficult but we really wanted to sit together. The dining room was empty and there were a lot of seating space for us. Of course we will be returning because one bad situation won’t ruin it for us. We’ll just be more cautious when coming in with a large group.

Highway Inn is solid spot for Hawaiian food, a testament to its authenticity and flavors that resonate deeply with my Hawaiian roots. Every dish served is a celebration of tradition and taste, capturing the essence of 'ono in every bite. For anyone seeking to immerse themselves in a genuine Hawaiian food experience, this place is a must-visit, embodying the aloha spirit in its purest form. Cheeee-hoooooo!

Born and raised on the island of Oahu, I thought I ate at every local restaurant, and they were all so delicious! Now I need to add this one Highway Inn restaurant in Waipahu from entering, and at the end of my visit, it is one of my top ten and over. It's pricee but it's worth it.

Great place to get authentic local Hawaiian food, and it's away from the tourism. Service was awesome and the prices are reasonable. I will go back 100%!Parking: There were a lot of cars in the lot but the place was pretty empty when we were there. I'm guessing people use it for commuter parking or something else.

We loved this place! The food was excellent -- the loco moco, kalua pig plate (with the pipikaula and mac salad), and fish tacos are a few recommendations. Would recommend every visitor to Hawaii get a traditional Hawaiian plate lunch at some point. As a tourist to the island, the poi and the lomi salmon didn't really float my boat, but very glad I tried them. If you like coconut, the haupia dessert will be up your alley as well.
