I bought some Apple Manju at the Windward Mall Farmers Market yesterday April 19, 2023 and took it home made a pot of coffee to enjoy it with and the Manju was horrible. I actually had to spit it out. It was old and not even EDIBLE! It's always so flaky but today just hard and old. I tried to call them and nobody answers. For two days I've tried and I do believe the phone doesn't even work! Shame on you Manny's Bakeshop for even selling something like that! What the heck happened? Usually the Manju's are my all time favorite! Have to rate 1 star until you make this right!

This review is of my experience on Tuesday, July 5th. Brother wanted to try this bakery in the small strip mall where the old Highway Inn then Rainbow Drive In was located. Told him first, well I gotta go take blood test at the same lab where the old Big Way Waipahu (now called Waipahu Festival Marketplace) along with other shops share the same parking lot. I knew from reading briefly that Manny's had a small outlet selling goods inside of the Waipahu Festival, but both of us knows nothing would beat going to the bakery itself. Right??? After my blood test, we drove to the bakery and got there about 8:10am, I saw a sign perched on top of the orange safety cone. As I got out of the car stating to 'pardon the inconvenience as they are doing some remodeling'. Boy, as I walked up to the shop there is this older retired gentleman sitting outside fronting doors like he's security (lol). I was taken back as to what I saw... no one in front, the two display cases to the left and front were 'practically EMPTY' and no one acknowledging my presence. I could hear a lot of noise from workers in the back kitchen, so I kept saying out loudly HELLO ! HELLO ! Finally, a female in her mid/late 20s came out to the front and I asked where are the pastries? Is this all you have ? Looked to be a little pre-packaged small round pastries on only one shelf. Her reply: "Oh, you have to go to Waipahu Festival, the pastries are there...". 'What'? I told myself fuming... Why would the bakery not BE a bakery, but acting more like the production plant ? I told her I just left there (that parking lot where the blood test lab along with Waipahu Festival was located). Before I left, she did say they had in the back Spanish Rolls and Pan De Sal available, but because she said the pastries were at the other location I decided to just leave. Again... urghhh... is this bakery in this strip mall a production plant or a bakery that produces and SELLS ??? Drove back to the other location... found the stall where its outlet located (front/left of the building looking between the left entry/exit and the left side of the building). Ugh... disappointed ONCE AGAIN... ALL pre-packaged pastries except for the malasadas (priced at 60 each each) that were in a large plastic rectangular tray with cover (wonder how it breathes and not sweat) ? All on top of a long table... with the bakery signage stating what they sell (but not offer it today). I asked where are the cinnamon rolls --- she said, oh -- maybe tomorrow they make. Yes, just what I needed to hear... what I wanted to get, but didn't have. So, so disappointing... so I just chose the 'apple' manju packaged (6 @ $5) and the 5 malasadas (as some reviews talked about their malasadas) at $3. Paid straight $8 as I guess the taxes were already included in the price. Brother took same malasadas and a pre-packaged of 2 pieces pan de 'coco' as that is what the woman told him and a pre-packaged 1 piece ensaymada (btw, there are many spellings of this word). Dropped him off and I went home to eat my breakfast. Tried opening the 'apple' manju and saw the inside more with grated coconut... tasted much like coconut... was it mislabeled? Opened another one, and same thing... what? Anyway, not until I ate the 5th and 6th manju the next day (today) did I ever taste a 'hint' of apple (maybe a slight of applesauce)... I would call this package mislabeled. However, its taste was moist and *very good* for the price. As for the malasadas, wow they ARE small (well, what you suppose to expect for it being priced at 60 cents each) ? Initial bite --- ok, some fluff but then as the bite was complete, it became slightly dense ... nothing like malasadas... tastes just like a regular granulated white sugar donut to me... DO NOT BUY as I would say this is an insult to the Portuguese Malasadas. Brother had the same comment about the malasadas... bad ! His pan de 'coco' was actually pan de ube instead... But the lady told him that package was

The puff is so good . Everything is good with this Bakery. The dough is not to thick and it's just right . The only problem with this Bakery is that the shop needs to update there Phone number. Other than that the Bakery is good. I Like this restaurant better than Nandings . Customer service at Nanding can be horrible and rude. Mannys Bakery the owner daughter she makes the customer feel like Ohana. Very Hospitality.

I finally tried their Spanish roll and pan de sal yesterday and was very disappointed. The breads are too airy or fluffy and bland taste. I still prefer Nanding's Spanish roll and Vallerio's pan de sal.

Just bought chocolate pastry at Kapolei Farmer's Mkt. When I opened container (3 for $4.75), it had a strange odor. Pastry not sweet, not tasty, not chocolate flavor!? Not buying anything from this company anymore waste of $

Nice assortments but don't go in to early cause you'll find nothing on the self. I walked in at 7am found nothing on the self but they had Spanish Rolls in the back along with pandasal, nothing else tho. Maybe next time I'll go in at 9am. Spanish Rolls were to sweet for me but pandasal was good.

Nandings can eat their heart out. Manny's have a much tastier assortment and are always helpful and friendly

I always stop here on Wednesday's at the Windward mall farmers market! The chocolate and ube malasadas are divine. They have such a unique take on malasadas, and I actually prefer them over Leonard's! The cinnamon rolls are light and baked to perfection. So many savory and sweet options to choose from, definitely swing by and check out their selection!

4/21/21-Windward Mall farmers market Wednesday w/my two little grandsons! I just adore being with them! They call me "Grammy "!!!! I was craving something, but I didn't know what!!! Stepped up to the tent to oogle @ the pastries & my boys became quiet all of a sudden!!! U know why right?!? The eldest decided on "Hot Dog " manapua. I saw different flavors of "manju " ! Guava, blueberry, coconut, apple cinnamon & ube! I was just gonna get a few but saw the pricing & they sell it 5/$3 I think! Okie dokie! Let's just get all five! The best flavor was guava! So sweet, sticky & tart! The outside is like a pie crust ,the inside is like a pie filling. Many years ago,I introduced the apple manju to a colleague of mine who is from southern Florida. She loved it! She described it as a mini hand held pie! We tried everything from Manny's! Especially the Cream puffs! Ai sos! So delicious! Visit the the bakery because I haven't yet! They have a cafe too?!? Let me know Yelpers!
