Local quality homemade Asian food. The atmosphere is great and always has friendly excellent service! Food is so good! This is our go to in the Des Moines area every time and never disappoints. Can’t believe they are retiring! Hurry and get it before it’s gone!

Nomis is simply amazing all the way around! We are from Runnells so anytime we are in town, we like to stop here. The food is made fresh for every order! We have not had anything we havnt loved! The owners are SO personable and genuine. One time my family (of 5) went and our adult entrées came out before the kids' meals only by about 5 min. No big deal and the owner ended up taking the kids' meals off our ticket because he felt bad. So we made sure to give him extra for a tip.Its the little things! Love everything about Nomi's Asian Cuisine!

We just moved to Altoona and want to try the local establishments. Nomi's was the first stop.We ordered Crab Rangoons as an appetizer and they threw in 2 spring rolls also. The owner makes everything herself and it is definitely made with love. The chili oil served was fantastic! I ordered the orange chicken and my husband had the spicy chicken with vegetables. The orange chicken was different than typical orange chicken, but different in the best way. It actually tasted like oranges and was citrusy. It was served with a giant pile of perfectly cooked rice. My husband said his dish was perfectly spiced. The owner is retired Army, so we chatted military stuff and my husband just stuffed his face. The place is exceptionally clean. I told him I can't wait to come back and try the bulgogi and he said his wife's was better than all of the stuff he ate in Korea. I am definitely going back for it because the bulgogi I had in Korea was awesome!Go support this place. Open for dinner 5 nights a week!

I always forget to take pictures of my food, which I why I haven’t reviewed yet, but here we go.My entire family loves Nomi’s- we usually get 4-5 entrees and we split them up and share. The sauces on the chicken are out of this world, my personal favorite is the teriyaki, but we also love the sesame, orange, and sweet and sour. The orange chicken sauce is such a different take than our typical that we are used to. It’s a refreshing and light flavor, my oldest son could eat an entire adult portion to himself. The teriyaki is soooo rich and delicious, I could eat it on everything. My husband really enjoys the lightness of the beef and vegetables as he prefers less sauce. The crab rangoons- we have to get two orders of, or else our kids won’t leave any for us, THEY ARE THE BEST, and the sweet and sour sauce again, is just so damn good.

This was a small but very nice place. The food was fantastic, the owners are very friendly, & the dining area was very clean. I got the garlic chicken with fried rice & a spring roll while my wife got sweet & sour chicken with steamed rice, everything tasted great & came nice & hot. We're already looking forward to our next time here!

Are you kidding??? This is exactly what I was looking for. Asian Fusion at it's finest! Chinese, Japanese, or Korean...all perfect. And the Sapporo beer was super cold. Couldn't be happier.

We decided to try Nomi's tonight. Nice that they are close to us. We ordered for pick up. They were friendly to talk with. Food was ready quick. I had the tofu and mixed vegetables, Hubby had the general tsao and we also got the Veggie spring rolls and crab Rangoon. One thing that stood out for me was the sweet and sour sauce. Its so much thicker than other places which makes it awesome for dipping as the sauce stays on your eggrolls and you dont get any dripping. We were very happy with all of it! So nice to have something so close. Give them a try! Support local, they would love to have you!

First of all I would like to say that I love Asian food. All of it. Not this place so much.I have been here two times. Service was okay both times but the food was consistently unacceptable. This last time I took two bites of my food before I gave up. Someone needs to do some quality control. The food should appear appetizing and taste delicious. Twice the food here say missed the mark.My advice is to get someone to come in and honestly critique your food. Take the feedback and make changes. Altoona needs good food places. We need good Asian variety.

Don't come here if you have time sensitive plans afterwards. Waited over 30 minutes for fried rice and broccoli beef. Saw multiple to go orders go out while we waited as well as another tables' food. They did take our appetizer off of our ticket. Which we appreciated. Tye food itself was fine. Not worth the price of wait in my opinion.

I had sesame chicken with upgraded fried rice that was really just steamed rice with frozen peas and carrots added. The chicken tasted like sugar and corn starch. The rice tasted like it sat in a pan that was burnt at the bottom. I spent 20$ on one entry and a bowl of egg drop soup. The soup was the only thing that tasted good.

Very clean and well-kept restaurant. Husband wife owned and they are very personable. Large portions of food and some of the best Asian cuisine available in the Des Moines area.
