This place gives Amana a bad name. The owner is exploiting the fact that she is the only bakery open in Amana, knowing she can get away with pretty much anything because she has a constant cycle of new customers (tourists) who don't know any better. She is extremely rude and lies, saying everything is baked in house....100% not true. Everything is ordered in, which is extremely apparent in the quality and flavor, and I'm sure is why the prices are so obscene. If you're visiting Amana, please do not support this business. The Visitor's Center has a small coffee shop inside that serves cinnamon rolls, the Chocolate Haus has delicious homemade chocolates (etc) and serves coffee/espresso as well, and the Ox Yoke and Ronnenburg have cakes and pies that are far superior .

Miss labeling food items: I bought a variety pack of kolaches and they were missed labeled/ I thought I bought a Blueberry, apple, cherry, and peach and once I got to the car realized they were not what I have purchased. I walked back and would not help in anyway. Not happy. $13 not worth it.

The pastries are great, the gal working was a little rude

I know it's not the busy season but the service was lacking, found less than fresh products for sale and their bathroom policy is ridiculous.

Gal behind the counter seemed irritated and told us she could not turn on the lights upstairs on the loft seating area.

Got drip coffee complimentary as well as a gluten free monster cookie since we have a gluten allergy. Wish I could have enjoyed more options but grateful for the cookie. My son really enjoyed it he drank with his milk. As for the coffee it was okay. Coffee didn't have much taste and the cup over powered the taste. I'm for biodegradable cups but I didn't enjoy it. Definitely recommend to people who can enjoy a nice strudel they looked delicious! Unfortunately there were none when we stopped in so we couldn't bring some home as treats to family or friends.

Amana Colonies Bakery & Cafe: Sweet Escape to German Goodness (4.5/5) Forget boring chain pastries! This bakery is a taste of homemade heaven in Amana. They bake everything fresh from scratch, and you can tell. My cherry rhubarb strudel was bursting with juicy fruit and flaky perfection, and the Dutch letter was huge and delicious. They also have a cute café with sandwiches and drinks, perfect for a quick lunch or coffee break. The staff is super friendly and helpful, making you feel like part of the Amana family. Only downside? Choosing just one treat is IMPOSSIBLE! Go hungry and bring friends to share the bounty. Pro tip: Try their homemade jams and jellies, soups and more - they're the perfect souvenir or gift! #amana #bakery #homemade #germanfood #yummy #musttry @yelpdsm Sorry i didn't take photos - I was still waking up and this was my first coffee of the day!

The selection of items was smaller than I thought it would be. The staff was not as kind as she could be. The building has a small area to buy other items such as bread and say old goods. The seating are is small and compact but is a place to duck away from the busy of the town.

This was our second visit. Granted it was the off season so maybe we didn’t receive the “A game” experience.Espresso was sour. This location could improve customer experience by removing the many many signs all over the store yelling at the customer…“Don’t do this…. !”“Don’t do that…!”“Upstairs closes at …..!”“Card or cash only!”“!!!”

This place is terrible. The owner treats her employees and customers absolutely terrible. For someone who’s so “Godlike” maybe she should remember what God is about. She screams at her employees, doesn’t properly train them, the “in house baked goods” are not baked in house. They are sent to them in boxes. Not fresh, so they are stale and overpriced. The owner of this “bakery” is sue happy but needs to learn that you can’t tell someone with a service animal what they’re for and that they can’t have them there. That’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. Or denying a pregnant women the use of a bathroom. That’s just wrong. You’re better off going to the gas station. Atleast their stuff is baked there. Go to the Chocolate Haus across the street for better service and they’ll also let you use the bathroom with no problem and bring other food and pets into the store (as long as they’re behaved of course) I’d give this place 0 stars if that were an option.

Very over priced for average pastry. Spent $35 for an eclair and 3 creme puffs. I had hoped they would taste like the God of bakers made them.... Just average.

The sales lady was horribly rude to us when we tried to use the restroom. We had ordered coffee and a treat then she said she would not let us use the restroom until the payment went through. We had just driven 2 hours to get there and ordered $20 worth of items. Avoid this place.

We walked into the bakery today and were looking around to buy a few things. It took about 10 min before the Sales lady attended to us even though we were the only customers there. My husband had ordered a cake and two coffees and I was standing next to him and asked if we could use the restroom. The salesperson was extremely rude and aggressive and said she will not give me the key until the payment goes through. I was completely taken aback. I couldn’t believe how incredibly horrible this experience was. It was my first stop after a two hour drive to get to the Amana Colonies. Do not waste your time here. There is an incredible coffee and chocolate shop across the street that is much better.
