Best place in town for authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex. Speedy, happy service and the food is very good. Large variety on the menu too.Vegetarian options: They will make it however you need.Dietary restrictions: Great about dairy-free and gluten-free.Parking: Street parking along front and huge parking lot in back.Kid-friendliness: Happy, lovely place and great kids menu.

Food is always what I wanted and always quick! Complementary chips and salsa are also amazing. The people there are so kind and helpful! They also throw really great birthday surprises with the choice of fried ice cream or a tequila shot (if you're of age). I love this place and come here a lot with my friends!!

Decent Mexican fare. Felt the tamale had too much masa and too little meat.

First time here, no wait time a plus, food came our quick but also looked like a slow night. My food was ok it needed some seasoning or salt at least, tortillas were cold and somewhat hard. Margaritas are expensive so make sure you ask if you don't want to be surprised when you get bill, they have prices on everything but the liquor. Not bad for a first timeexperience. Service was minimal yound lady up-front very friendly though.I'll give it another try.

Incredible place to eat. Friendly staff that seats you quickly and ensures you never have an empty glass. It took only 3 minutes after we ordered to get our food (for two people). Food is delicious and very hot! I highly recommended this place to anyone.

El Azteca is our go-to family restaurant in Ames. Delicious food, fantastic service, and a great atmosphere. I really can’t recommend El Azteca enough. ?Vegetarian options: As with any Mexican restaurant, there are vegetarian options. Everything on the El Azteca menu is delicious. ?Dietary restrictions: My wife is gluten free (allergy) and she has no problems eating at El Azteca.Parking: There is plenty of parking options.Kid-friendliness: Our kids love eating here off the children’s menu.

This is our 2nd time here and it has not disappointed. Andy, our waiter, was awesome- very helpful, accurate and kind. The Poncho’s lemon-lime chicken was delicious and unique. The fajita burrito was flavorful. The drinks were quench worthy. Will go again. Great Ames, IA restaurant.
