I just ate a great salad from Firehouse Subs. A few weeks ago there was an error with my order and James sent me a certificate for a replacement item. I redeemed that today. Not only was the meal fresh and delicious, the service was fun and efficient. They even threw in some extras. I appreciate a business who takes care of their customers. I will be back for more.

Used to be my favorite place to go but it's going downhill fast. The quality definitely depends on who is working. The last 2 times I've been there I've been very disappointed however.

Foods good, 26 mins in the drivethru is ridiculous. I wanted to drive off but wanted to see how long it take to make one sandwich. Once ii got to the window it made more sense. The employee working the window must hate there job. As a business owner my self I get the issue of finding help. Why my review is much higher then it should be as a employee doesn't make the company.

My experience here is always a pleasant one. I had to ding this one star because the drive thru didn’t work and then the pace was pretty slow. However, the food didn’t disappoint and I will continue to come here because i love this chain!

Some of the best subs I've ever had, but don’t go in when there is a full hour left before close. The staff get upset they have to work.

I was driving back from Iowa City a few days ago during the early evening. I had gone down to the University of Iowa to teach a class and at a 2.5 hour drive each way, it was already a long day. And after dining out with Dad and others during the previous week, I didn't feel like a sit down meal. That decision was also helped by the fact that some of the restaurants I wanted to try were closed on Monday. The more convenient chain sandwich shop choices were Subway, Jimmy Johns, and Firehouse. Although there's drive in service, I parked the car and walked in. Service was helpful enough among a wide array of confusing choices. I took the recommendation of the Turkey Bacon Ranch sandwich (Medium - 8" and came out quickly) and later dined on it at the Hotel with an Iowa craft beer from the fridge, and in front of Part 5 of the Blind Auditions on the Voice. It doesn't get any more exciting than this just outside the Iowa State campus. The sandwich was good enough, albeit a bit messy. But my experience wasn't really anything to write home about, unless it's a Yelp review of course.

I just lost my mom suddenly a week ago. Every time my mom and dad would go to Ames they would choose to eat at your restaurant. A couple days after my mom passed my dad mentioned that the only thing that sounded good to him was the engineer from fire house subs. So today I decided to drive an hour away to Ames to get him his favorite sub that he would eat with my mom every time they went to an Ames. I went through the drive-through and explained to them my situation. that my mom had passed, and my dad really wanted firehouse subs so I traveled an hour away to get him the one thing that sounded good to eat since my mom had passed. I asked them if they could please double wrap it so it would stay as warm as possible since I was traveling a distance, the girl said no problem she would double wrap it in foil. well, not only did they not double wrap it in foil they didn’t even wrap it in foil one time. I don’t usually do this stuff, but in my eyes shame on you. I am so very disappointed. To you this may not have been a big deal but to me it would’ve meant everything. I truly don’t think I was asking too much, but maybe I was.

First time at the Ames Location. I ordered the Italian and it was wonderfully tasty, warm, with soft bread. Excellent flavor, clean atmosphere, and quite staff. Overall, very happy with experience.
