We really like Hu Hot Mongolian Grill, Because you take a Bowl, then work your way across the assortment of Meats, then assortment of Vegetables , & pineapple. Last you pick the sauces you want it cooked in.Next, you take it to the full rounded grill and watch them finish your masterpiece! Can't wait to go back.

We come here often when visiting our daughter who is going to ISU. I have a few food allergies, which make eating out difficult. Our first time at a HuHot, I was blown away by how careful they are to not cross contaminate.At this location, they remember me after I have been to the grill once. This time, they were extremely busy and had someone training on the grill. I was shocked that not only did they remember me, but they had the grill cleaned and ready for my food before I even finished preparing my bowl.Our waitress also refilled our drinks any time they started to get low. She made sure we had the app with the rewards program because we always have a larger group. (More rewards toward free food)Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options, you pick your own food, so you can have as many as you want.Dietary restrictions: I have food allergies, they are taken very seriously at the grill!!I can't have fish/seafood or grains. Although everything is in the line together, I just look carefully to make sure other customers haven't knocked items into the food I am choosing. You tell the person taking your bowl to the grill, and they go scrub the grill carefully and section off the area your food goes.Kid-friendliness: We have seen a lot of kids here when we come. (After games etc.) They are just another customer, never an issue that we have seen.

The food is flavorless. No matter how many sauces and seasoning you add. It's like bad Chinese buffet. It's self-serve, except for the drinks. And ambiance? Surely you jest.

HuHot is always a great visit (don't have one super close to me so get to enjoy it occasionally) but this was my first time visiting this location and will go back just because of the service! Faith was my waitress and she was a dream. Very pleased with my experience with just her alone!

I was very pleased with my visit today, my waitress was Faith and she was nothing but friendly and professional. She was very polite when we had a question and very understanding when my 4 year old spilt his drink all over.
Credit card fraud, be aware!We have eaten here on January 19th and after finishing dinner we left $15 cash tip on the table. We later found out that on top of the $82 bill, most likely the server (Amber D.) overwrite the receipt to add an extra $15 tip. Corpo guys, if you read this, it was check #84 01/19/2024. I have emailed the corporation-no response, I have called in the morning and talked with the self assigned manager, nothing back. I have also called Ames PD, they told me to solve this dispute with the restaurant despite the fact that basically, this is credit card fraud. Shame on the server, manager, and any other personell that works there who knowsnow about this, and let it happen. Hats off for the cooks in there, they, do an amazing job, I always tipped them separately.

Great lunch spot. Can be in and out and back to the job within 30ish minutes. The staff is great. And the buffet line is maintained exceptionally well.
