The beef in chili oil was amazing, I also really enjoyed their white steamed rice. The consistency was perfection. Their chicken fried rice is not my favorite from restaurants in Ames but it was not bad by any means. I would have preferred more than just the basic carrots, peas, onion, and egg.

Joys Mongolian has been a staple of my time at Iowa State since my freshman year. Going here is a regular place of me and my boyfriends, and we highly highly highly recommend the bok choy dumplings!!

Only tried a few things, but they were all good. Shocked and happy to find a childhood favorite in the chive dumpling on the menu.

Took a long time to get our food. We were offered bottled water and not asked about tea. The food came in plastic to go containers with plastic utensil. I guess this is to be expected with covid. The food tasted ok and the portion sizes were enough to fill us up.

Boards at the front present a huge menu of authentic Chinese dishes, but be warned - unless you can read Chinese they are useless to you, as they lack English labelling. I am not sure if they are all on the English menu or not, as I haven't seen the English menu.Food is decent. I wouldn't say it blows me away, but certainly just fine for a sit-down lunch or take-out.

When I say their hot fish is the best food I have ever had in my life I am not kidding. Order whatever you think looks tasty and you won't regret it. This place deserves to be Michelin star restaurant. ?

The food is fantastic! The cleanliness is hit or miss, depending who is working. I almost gave five stars dispite that because the of the huge selection and delicious dishes.

Very good food! Gave it a second chance for my birthday meal after not having it in awhile and I was delighted at the quality of the food, service, and the price!

Best chicken fried rice in Ames!

My wife and I had a good dinner at Joy's. Ample portions: we took away enough for a second dinner tomorrow. Place is clean and the server accommodating though she was busy making up take-out orders. Only one other sit-down customer while we were there; but lots of orders being picked up. We shared a plate of pork and bok-choi dumplings that were very good. I ordered lamb with scallions; my wife ordered sesame chicken. No frills here: plastic cutlery, paper napkins, tepid bottled water. Prices very reasonable.

If you enjoy lo mein, definitely try Joy's! My favorite in Ames, generous portion size and addictive flavors.

My girlfriend and I wanted to try something new in the area and stumbled across Joy's from a quick Google search. We started off with the egg rolls and crab ragoons which were some of the best I have personally had. Ordered the sweet and sour chicken and a combination lo mien which we shared and ended up having leftovers the proportions were so hefty. For the amount of food you get, it was a very very reasonable price. For the mid-western taste buds, the lo mien had the perfect amount of spice to it to make it enjoyable while still getting a good kick. The sweet and sour chicken was okay, breaded chicken pieces with provided dipping sauce. Being a student at ISU, I will definitely be going back to Joy's with friends for some good Mongolian food.

Took forever to get order. Ordered ahead of time...waited 1/2 hour to go....then drove 20 minutes...just to wait 45 minutes . So unless you have 2 hours to waste....no thanks
