I drive a bus and I stop in here once in a while to use the rest room and grab a snack. About a year ago, I had lunch there and WOW! I didn't expect such great food because I expected your typical truck stop type fare, but no! I stop in there every couple months when my mouth is bored and needs some wakin' up!!! The Cowboy Quesadilla is my favorite and I'm not even a cowboy!

Any trip to Ames MUST include a Filing Station stop, without exception. Best breakfast in the Midwest and has exceptional positive energy within the staff.

This spot is genuinely up there with the best food in town, hands down. The pork tenderloin sandwich, a fan favorite, is easily the best I’ve ever tasted before. The staff is incredibly helpful and very friendly, and it’s evident that this place has a high bar of who they employ. The Filling Station is a one-of-a-kind experience that I highly recommend to anyone in need of a good meal and locally-brewed cup of coffee while they fill up their gas.In a world where corporations such as Casey’s and Kum & Go have completely cornered the market and bought up nearly all other smaller gas stations, The Filling Station has etched out a place in the community’s heart, and created a niche that no other local gas stations can begin to compete with. We can safely agree that this place is here to stay.

I admittedly thought this was just going to be your typical gas station food. HOWEVER, I ordered a veggie burrito and it was amazing. I would drive out of my way to get food from here again.

Cool place to stop for food, drink, and gas. Good location right off the interstate and walking distance from the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center. The choices are amazing! Coffee was hot, scone was fresh, plus picked up snacks and drinks for the rest of the day. Gas competitively priced. Place was clean and employees doing great job. They also have sandwiches for breakfast/lunch and so many other options. Worth swinging by if you are in the area.

I’m down here from Canada working with the Ag department at ISU and the Filling Station has been a staple. The brisket and pulled pork are amazing. The light breakfast and Americano are amazing. Even had biscuits and gravy for breakfast for the first time before the football game. Best of all though are the staff, they’ve made me feel right at home even when I’m just sitting with my laptop outside doing work. Highly recommend!!!

The Filling Station is a great spot for Coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch… oh, and gas if if you need it. This place is a gas station/convenience store but so much more. The food here is excellent & the staff is great!You can dine in, carry out, or they have some grab & go options, all made right there in the kitchen. I make it a point to stop here for lunch any time I am in Ames.

I didn't know what to expect when we stopped in for breakfast. We are out of towners and finding a good place can be hard. After reading other reviews we decided to give it a shot. So glad we did! The pancakes were amazing! Biscuits were amazing. The store attached sells baked goods, cookies, scones etc. A very nice young man took our order and delivered our food to the table. The service and food were do good we went a second time. The place is cute, clean and welcoming. My only regret is that we didn't have a chance to have lunch there. I bet the burgers and fries are amazing!

Fantastic breakfast cooked to order or grab-and-go from hot case. Also makes good Americanos at full-service espresso bar (order espresso at grill, not the self-service machine). Love the breakfast quesadilla, but might want to share. Good-sized portions. Highly recommended!!!

Great little stop! We were in Ames for ragbrai and I didn't want to go into town so this was perfect on the edge of town! Great food also
