They were BUSY this morning when my fiancee, my daughter and her boyfriend went for breakfast. However, talk about super hot fresh coffee!! Everything was delicious! We had the New Philly Skillet. The New Bacon Chilli Skillet and The 2-2-2 breakfast. Not a single complaint except we were too full!

staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. we were seated and served quickly, which is impressive at 10:30 on a Sunday around here! Eggs and french toast were delicious, sausage and potatoes were a little dry.

Customer Service

I ordered a whole cheesecake for pick up from the online order site and was sent an email confirming my order and the money was taken out of my account but when I went to pick it up the waitress informed me that they do not have whole pies in the store and they didn't have my order. She said her boss would have to refund my money tomorrow. If this is not an option it needs removed from the site. Very frustrated as this was for my husband's birthday and I live 45 minutes away from the restaurant.

The only good thing was the server. The place was filthy. Dirty tables everywhere (to include sticky stuff I found on my shirt from our table), nasty window shades with dead flies on the seels, and dirty carpet. Needless to say we barely touched our food (we were too afraid). Not sure what the manager was doing. He appeared to be doing NOTHING. Our poor server was the only one when we arrived and was working her tail off.

When we travel, and the community has a Villags inn? I look forward to their breakfast! The location in Ames, Ia was awful. The iced tea was old and had a foul taste. The toast was unusual. I assumed it was white since I was not asked about. Type of bread, but it was a seeded bread and was somewhat bitter. The eggs were fine. Coffee was stale, and the grits were rock hard. The French toast was dry bread. Every place has an off day. But, this was really terrible. And I typically love Village Inn. I don’t like leaving poor reviews. However, this unfortunately was warranted.

Food was cooked nicely, but portion size was small. I got the all American cheeseburger with fries for a side. Could have gone to a fast food joint and gotten same quality of food with bigger portion for cheaper. It was overpriced in my opinion. I won't be back.

This is by far the worst food I have ever ate. I ordered the ultimate breakfast and It was missing food. It came out cold and slimy and looked like it was already half eaten. The food just smelled rank as if it was spoiled. It was also very over priced. For two meals is was nearly $40. Both meals were ice cold and soggy. Your better off going to a gas station and buying a breakfast sandwich. This place was so bad I spent 15 minutes recovering my Gmail password just to leave this review.

The food was absolutely awful! They were out of most everything and they failed to tell us after we had ordered so we had to order again! My kids got chicken tenders and they were so hard they couldn't even bite through them! I got eggs Benedict and the English muffin underneath my eggs and the sauce was still hard! The you could tell the sauce was old like it was been sitting out for a few days.

They were out of hamburgers and chicken. Saturday at lunch. We had 2 orders of chicken strips that were too hard to eat.The employees were all friendly and did a good job.

Save yourself the headache. Service was terrible and unorganized. Multiple tables got up and left after waiting over an hour for food. Other tables waited more then 45 minutes just for a water. Our waiter didn't check back with us and had to be flagged down whenever we needed something. Food was bland and nothing special.

They were very apologetic for being short staffed but our waitress was amazing!! Food was absolutely perfect.

My husband and I went to Village Inn for lunch since we had not been there in a while. My husband took one sip of his iced tea and noticed ‘something’ floating in the bottom of it. It was unrecognizable enough it caused him to dry heave (it resembled a piece of thin sliced meat). The waitress told us it was a tea leaf. Needless to say, we lost our appetites and did not stay for our meals. If it was a tea leaf, Village Inn may want to re-think their tea product.

Hostess with red hair was lovely, but…- brown avocado with a side of pube in the skillet- unwashed lettuce with what appeared to be a bug- two corn kernels in the pancake dish- 2 stars because one of our meals was adequate- for some reason my feet are hot

The Clinton locations been shut down. The owner took a Penske moving truck and took all the spoiled food from the broken freezer and is now transporting it all to Ames! Without being refrigerated for the entire drive! Be careful eating the food as everything in the freezer has been thawed out for weeks!! The Clinton location refused to serve the food! And weren't allowed to throw it away!
