We love this place and tonight the chef hit it out of the park! Mahi-mahi with parsnip puree,kale, cashew, fennel & cranberry. Absolutely delicious. My husband had the Quesabirria tacos - also delicious! Totally worth the drive from Iowa City.

Went here for a work event in December and it is now my favorite restaurant in town! The food was unique, flavors were incredible, and the chef was friendly and passionate about what he does.The drink menu was unique and delicious as well.I tell everyone I can about this place and have asked to be taken here for my upcoming birthday. Quality food! Beautiful presentation on the gin and tonics, excellent homemade tortillas for the chips and quac, and tacos. Everything was really good; some highlights: pineapple in the tacos al pastor popped, crunchy fish in the tacos, churros were made to order. Did i mention the gin & tonics?!

I am normally focused on uncovering, reporting and solving local petty crime in CR, but tonight was a change of pace.Upon arrival I was whisked to an open seat at the bar (there was only one left)... I ordered a Mezcal Marg and some el pastor tacos... WOW! and the service! I shall be back!5/5

Incredible place. We are so lucky to have these flavors available to us here in eastern Iowa. Dishes were so fresh and well and perfectly seasoned, drawing on culinary heritage of the owners. No shortcuts are taken here and you can taste & feel it. The bar has an extensive and thoughtful selection and of course the atmosphere is so relaxing and inviting. I really felt the food here was made with so much love and respect and that every detail had been taken into account from the moment of arrival. We came for brunch and loved the warming, flavorful, substantial soup and the corn pancakes, but everything was divine and I really think you can’t go wrong. Can’t wait to come back for dinner. There’s so much more to say but JUST GO!

WOW. We had such a great experience at Lacayo. First, THIS IS NOT ANOTHER MEXICAN RESTAURANT. This is Latin American cuisine and it’s one of the best places in Cedar Rapids. Everything is so flavorful, it’s all made in house (even the tortillas), and the service is wonderful. We had a meal with friends and enjoyed it so much, we went back for brunch the next day. Looking for a brunch spot that doesn’t just offer the same standard breakfast items but packs tons of flavor? This is your place. You have to get the tamale. The sauce is out of this world. Will be returning and bringing friends and family to share in the experience. This place is a must if you’re going to be dining out in Cedar Rapids.
