The food is excellent. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is very cleanand the acoustics is great for visiting with friends. It's my favorite Mexican restaurant to go to in Cedar Rapids.
I have a soft spot for El Rancho... But I can only give 4 stars. I love the food and service at El Rancho. I'm never disappointed. But the atmosphere is rapidly deteriorating and from time to time I worry about cleanliness. I have never experienced anything dirty or yucky while eating here, but it's so dark, even in the middle of a summer day, that you can't really see much of anything. 1st time going here. Place is under new ownership. Hands down best Mexican food I've had in awhile. Salsa was amazing and I ordered the steak burrito smothered cheese sauce. It was huge , and very tasty. The service was fast and friendly. Definitely will be returning.
