We started off with chips and quesos. Our 9 month old baby tried the beans and loved them. Had the biarria tacos with rice and beans, and they were great. The husband had the biarra grilled cheese and the Cali burrito. Highly recommend that you get a gallon horchata and, as a horchatta lover, will definitely be back. The server was amazing, really nice, and attentive. Quick service. If you like watermelon candies, they also have a drink that taste exactly like one.

Stopped here yesterday on our way through from Dubuque to Iowa City to watch the Iowa game. Food and service were phenomenal! We both had an a la carte quesabirria taco because Isabelle suggested it. We'd never had quesabirria before. So good! Then we ordered chicken quesadillas to-go for later. Took one bite right away just to check it out, WOW, AMAZING! They were even more amazing at 2am ? Fantastic service from Isabelle and Casey! Great conversation and laughs with Casey, we'll definitely be back!

The food is always delicious! The owner comes out and greets every table. I always get the Birria tacos but tried the smothered flautas. Now I will be torn on what to order next time! My husband loves the Birria ramen. You should definitely try this place if you haven’t, they will not disappoint!

If i could this place 0 stars , I would. They served me 3 soggy birria tacos. Literally dipped my tacos in oil and served it to me just that way. I was disgusted. Would not recommend.
I have been eating their food since they had a food truck at the farmers market, I was so excited when they had a full restaurant. Excellent food, the owners are great people and service has always been great. This is a place we will continue to support!

I had heard of this restaurant in the Gazette a while back and since I had some time, I decided to check it out.The restaurant was pretty well decorated; colorful yet tasteful and some nice murals. I also appreciated the different types of Spanish music playing; it was a nice bit of variety I haven’t heard in other Mexican restaurants. The chips and salsa were tasty. The chips were crispy and had the right amount of salt while the salsa had a nice consistency and the right amount of spice (in my opinion).Anyone who wants to sit at the bar can watch pro soccer (or fútbol in Spanish) matches.I ordered the Burrito de al Pastor (filled with seasoned pork and pineapple). The burrito had a nicely toasted tortilla with some flavorful pork and fillings. Initially, I had been somewhat disappointed that I couldn’t find any pineapple but the server ensured the pineapple had been mixed in well with the meat. He even offered to get me some more in case I wasn’t satisfied. I didn’t need any extra pineapple but the gesture was appreciated. My server also had a good sense of humor and was pleasant company. He was a bit slow with getting back to my order but he was also handling other customers; I couldn’t fault him for that.As a heads up to anyone getting a burrito here, they are quite liberal with cilantro. I can understand if anyone isn’t fond of the herb though it’s quite essential for Mexican cuisine.Overall, I plan on a return visit to Rio Burritos. Hopefully much earlier in the day.Parking: The free parking lot has plenty of space.
