I was at Flannigan's last week and, man, was it nice to get back here. I'm a big fan of the folksy bar atmosphere with simple American cuisine to match. At first our table service was slow and I felt we waited too long for a simple drinks order. But the waiting time turned around after that first impression and I was happy with the rest of our experience. I ordered the Chicken Tenders, which came with fries, garlic toast, and cole slaw (the last of which I don't eat so I can't review). The food was super satisfying and thank you for the ample amount of honey mustard dipping sauce! Can't wait to bring a friend here--I know she'll enjoy Flannigan's, too.

My friend turned 40. Wanted a nice dinner with a good atmosphere. Had a beautiful view of the river. The service was great. The food was good. Prime rib is back. Would recommend.

I've been eating here on and off for 40 years. This used to be THE place for a great cut of meat. Hasn't been back in a while, so we went New years Eve. Wow. Was I disappointed. The NY Strip was tough and fatty. I asked my partner to try a bite, because I was sort of in disbelief. She concurred. Wish I had gone to Outback, or Longhorn. The asparagus, baked potato, and bread were all great. Service was fine. The interior is charming. But I will never go back.

Our service was terrible! Forgot the straws, forgot the bread with butter, didn’t refill the drinks, I had to ask our server for all of the above plus our check. We were there 2 hours just for dinner with no wait. I had the Mediterranean shrimp and it had absolutely no flavor and the bacon was undercooked. It was an expensive meal that was disappointing!

Historic setting with great views of the nearby river. Moderately upscale yet comfortably casual. Our service and meals were excellent. Menu is complete with steaks, seafood and pasta. Good covid precautions.
Great location and history and atmosphere. Friendly service, had good covid protocol. Interesting menus but Food was less Than stellar. Filst Oscar was loaded with onions and twice baked potato was dry and bland. Great ceasar salad. Bread was great too!

Stayed overnight in Iowa City while on our way to a wedding. We were also trying to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary at the same time, so we looked for a unique, local experience. The view from our table was excellent and the service was very good. We ordered Chicken Parmesan and Filet of Beef. It came with salads and bread. Salads were very tasty and the bread was excellent. In fact the bread was the best part. The CP portion was very large and it came out hot & ready to go with extra sauce as I had ordered. But the flavour was subpar at best. My wife has made better CP at home and for $22, the value wasn't there. My wife got the Filet of Beef and it too was subpar food for $32. Potatoes were overcooked and tasted old. The meat was cooked to how she asked but it tasted more like liver and was dry. Overall we were extremely disappointed and probably won't be back. Tried to be as transparent and honest as possible with this review, hoping changes can be made.
