On a good note, the guy at the register for the store is very friendly. The meal that I had was excellent. Good baked potato(I eat mine like a taco.) And a very delicious corned beef sandwich. Also, I had a really good conversation with two customers sitting near, an older lady who had recently had a fall and a mid aged trucker. Renae and Jeff were the best part of that experience. We shared so much with each other. And laughed a ton. Very nice people.The restaurant however is a bit weird. I'm not from here but the atmosphere was a bit sketchy. Also, I had inquiries about food options and the waitress had no clue about the food nor did she seem to have an interest in finding out. Pretty terrible not to be greeted especially when you have to seat yourself. Waitresses and waiters are supposed to be somewhat knowledgeable about the options. If they're not, they should be willing and have the option of finding out. Some people have allergies. I sat at a table for 6 because there weren't any others available. There were about 5 or 6 needing to be cleaned. She made a weird remark about where I sat as if I did something wrong, yet there weren't any clean tables. Gawd people behave weirdly at times. ??♂️ I did overhear that she's was there by herself so service was slow. Maybe she was pretty stressed but she didn't really seem very personable.I'd rate the overall experience of the restaurant a 3.5.

You change the corn nuggets which I was unaware of no more whisky steak both of the reason I stopped. I couldn't eat the what you call cowboy nuggets but still was charged for them . The ham and cheese omelet was so so. Way to much ham couldn't even see or taste the cheese. The only thing that was actually good was the pancakes. Will not be stopping here again. The whole place went down hill. Sorry. Use to be my must stop. Now it's must not stop

My wife and I stopped here for breakfast on Feb 18 while visiting the Omaha, Ne/Council Bluff, Iowa area. The food was great but they were very short staffed this particular morning. However, the staff that was working, our waitress was Kimmie, were going full speed ahead trying to get orders taken and food served. All together from the time we set down to the time we checked out was about an hour. The quality of the food and the effort on the part of the staff that was working will allow me to revisit the Apple Barrel for breakfast in the future.

As a gas station it's a 1, as a restaurant it's a 3, as a restaurant at a gas station it's a high 4. Burnt Ends are really good. I still got psychotically angry after the third attempt to fuel up and being met with broken pump.

The food was really great. The waitress Brenda was phenomenal. The only reason is that it's a one star for the service. It's because she was the only way just working taking care of 6 tables and up at the counter, too.

First came in here last night. Ordered a burger with Swiss cheese and mushrooms. The night cook seems to be a dummy as he doesn't understand the mushrooms are to be grilled not raw. Even Burger King, McDonalds etc understand this. But the reason for the extra star is because I came in this morning for breakfast. The daytime cook seems to be much more intelligent as he grilled the mushrooms in my omelet.

Last time I came it was actually really good, the younger server took care of us. She seemed very annoyed at every request, didn't mention up charges for food & left dirty dishes on my table for the whole hour I was there on my laptop. Once I paid, she ignored me entirely. Next time I'll just go elsewhere.
