Korean Fried Chicken is so good. Best eaten fresh or wings will get soggy. The flavors and the sides are delicious. This includes their fries. Recommend you give it a try. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Excellent everything honestly. It is pricey for a "chicken spot" but very worth it. Only weird thing that was kinda annoying was how long the line took to place an order. Maybe it was a lot of indecisive people or something cause once ordered food was quick, fresh and delicious.Had the 6 double dip wings, with Brussels, shishitos, and potato salad. Also an order of honey butter fries. And let me say, effin chef kiss on those indulgent piles of GD goodness!Total for me and my GF for identical orders, I had a beer she had a pop. Grand total with tip was $54.

Went here for the first time on Saturday. I wasn't sure if it would be busy, so we got there around 11:10 AM to be safe.Besides four other people already seated and eating, it was empty, and even though I ordered a large order, it was ready extremely quick (I'd say around 15 minutes or so).We got 2 orders of boneless (gochujang, and a new lemon sauce) and one order of bone-in (honey butter), each side, and Josh (the person at the counter who took my order) was VERY friendly and recommended me to get the honey butter fries.Needless to say, everything was good, and the fries were amazing! The gochujang and the lemon sauced chicken was good, but the honey butter sauced bone-in chicken and honey butter fries were my favorite. If you like a lot of crunch, I recommend the bone-in chicken (although maybe the boneless chicken is also crispy, it's just that after a 20 minute drive home it wasn't as crispy compared to the bone-in chicken).Definitely will be going back!

We had a late dinner at Basic Bird, and it was excellent. We ordered the 9 piece boneless (double dunk) with cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi, and the shishito peppers. We also ordered the honey butter fries. The chicken and fries were piping hot and had excellent crunch and flavor. The chicken had a sweet heat with while the fries had more of a sweet richness that paired so well together. The kimchi was fresh and SOME heat but not as much as we would have preferred. The shishito peppers were excellent and had a subtle heat to them. Overall, we had SO MUCH food and we were so satisfied for the price we paid. Service was great, and we had plenty of seating to choose from. We loved the decor and the use of live plants inside to make it feel hip and homey. Can't wait to come back for more!

This place is awesome. I'm from LA and frequent Korean spots I know-town pretty often and this place definitely has dishes inspired by traditional Korean food. The ambiance is clean, staff is friendly, food comes out in a timely fashion. The bone in and boneless wings are a hit, got the honey butter and gochujan flavors. Sides are also pretty authentic, my favorite was actually the potato salad. Kimchi fried rice is also awesome. The only thing I have is that the food is overly salted. The flavors and spices are strong (as it should) but you really need something more bland to break that salty taste. My reco is an option for white rice, so the chicken and ban chan can be paired with it without feeling too salty. I've been here twice already and will definitely come back. So excited that Des Moines is getting more cultural food! Someone do authentic Chinese or dim sum next ;)

Very disappointed! The chicken was crispy and tasty and the potato salad was good. However, the kimchi did not taste like it should, to sweet. The radish was ok. The place could be cleaner! I wasn't impressed at all. The thing that drove my ratings down is the deception for tipping. There is a tip jar right next to the register and because there really isn't any service, I put my tip in the jar after ordering. This is the part you all should be aware of, the establishment automatically added a 20% tip to the bill! To not notify customers that a 20% tip will be added to your bill and have a tip jar right next the the register is just not right! We dined in and the place was pretty busy, but when people left, no one cleaned the tables they were sitting at. I could understand if there weren't 6 or 7 people behind the counter yucking it up. Needless to say we won't be back!

Great spot! The double dunk sauce was yum. It was super busy, had to wait a long time in line because it had just opened but service was friendly still. The decor is minimalist but fun! You get a lot of food for not too much $ imo.

I’m not sure how this place doesn’t have a line out the door all the time! Fast casual style restaurant specializing in Korean inspired fried chicken and cauliflower with delicious sides. We ordered the boneless fried chicken and the fried cauliflower and one of each side. Every single bite was incredible. Very vegetarian friendly. Can’t wait to go back!

I tried basic bird for the first time and I have a gluten allergy, I read on the website that they had gluten free food. When I ordered sweet honey butter boneless chicken and they said it was gluten free. Although it was delicious I had allergy reaction afterwards.

A mighty addition to the new Des Moines food scene. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, and the portions are gigantic. The honey fries are really fun and an entree on their own. The chicken itself is perfectly cooked. Crispy, juicy, and good spice with the double dunk sauce. The smartest thing is including banchan-like sides with your order. We really enjoyed the potato salad and Brussels. We will absolutely be back.

Really great little shop for quick, affordable meal that's a bit outside of the usual sandwich and French fry options. The chicken was great and the sides were even better. I think we had almost everything on the menu and it was all delicious. Really great addition to the area and a must try if you are in Beaverdale.

Absolutely delicious first experience and I will be back a lot. The Bird is haunting our dreams, I'm trying to tell myself the leftover sides aren't breakfast. The corn cheese is so good. Two thumbs up, five stars, ten out of ten. Be aware that the parking lot and dine in area are small. But totally worth it.

I have wanted to try basic bird since they opened. I had been putting it off since everyone said the lines were out the door. Man, am I sorry I waited. We went on a Saturday at lunchtime. There was a big line. However, the line moved fast, and a table le opened up right after we ordered. We started with the fries....OMG. they were amazing. I definitely could have stopped after that. I ordered the boneless, and my companion ordered the bone in. Each came with three sides. Wasn't the biggest fan of the Brussel sprouts....but I think that is because I like my Brussel sprouts warm, and these were cold. My favorite side was the cucumber kimichi. The table next to us ordered the fried rice. I definitely want to try that next time.

Sometimes a place just gets that you can do a limited number of things extremely well and that makes for great dining. This is one of those. Everything is just very well done. The only drawbacks are limited parking and seating. Vibe is cool.
