Whew, I'm a fan. I wasn't a vegan or vegetarian when I went, but I wanted to try the place out. I took my teenage son along and didn't tell him the food was vegan. He tore it all up and couldn't wait to go back! Most vegan food lack adequate flavor or is over salted to make up for the lack of meat. We were pretty impressed and happy with the food here. Still an indulgence as the fat and salt contents are high, but glorious indulgence every now and again is nice.

I'm not vegan, but I tried their original Dirt Burger and thought it was great. Flavor was very similar to a beef patty (obviously different texture, but that was expected). Also the fries and shakes were great as well. Glad to see there is a quality option for vegans and non-vegans alike to enjoy.

When your name has DIRT in it the expectations are pretty low so for vegan burgers they are good but you are paying vegan prices.

This burger is amazing. I live 1400 miles away and want it back in my life. I try duplicating it but but it's not as good. I dream of these burgers. We were on vacation and flew into Des Moines, just passing through, stumbled across Dirt Burger. I am so glad we did. We went the day we flew in and then the day we flew out. It was great both days. Now until next year I am left dreaming.

Absolute gem of a plant-based restaurant in Des Moines. I was thoroughly impressed by the volcano burger and the dirt balls. Flavorful and hearty meal! Would absolutely make a point of going back next time I end up in the area!

Flavorful, fresh, nourishing … I can’t say enough about this “fast” food that is really a farm to table experience. The staff takes pride in delivering real food. We came here in search of vegan food that was less unhealthy than road food. My plan to get a salad fell apart when I learned more about the burgers and decided to indulge. My body felt fueled but not weighed down … what real food does. Hats off to the team! We will be back!!

The coup de gras after I ran the Des Moines Marathon: I walked myself down to experience Dirt Burger in downtown Des Moines. What I got was the best damn veggie burger - no, the best BURGER that I've ever had. Why? It was slutty and savory, saucy and full of different textures. It was a perfect mouthful. Like a Big Mac, only without the disappointing patties and bread in the middle. I know, you're going to say that I forgot and what meat tastes like. I haven't. I know for some folks the ideal burger is a meat patty with grease that runs down your arm. I get it. I happened to prefer a veggie burger, and I think this is more interesting with lots of unctuous flavor, and it ain't health food - except that with so many whole food ingredients it kind of is. But it felt really indulgent to me, especially when I paired it with their real potato french fries and the tiger sauce the staff recommended. And she was so, so right. As they said once on my beloved show "Chef!" with Lenny Henry, "I've never had a liquid as good as that in my life." They had vegan shakes that looked absolutely amazing, but I didn't have anyone to split with, and I knew I would be in pain after I packed it all in... Also, I'm weird, but I had some granola at the hotel room that I was pretty excited about. Anyway, all this and gluten-free since I ordered it on the GF roll. Staff was also incredibly friendly. I'm seriously jealous that Iowa has this joint, but it's all for the best since I would gain 5 lb a week if this place was down the street.

New York to Oregon road trip. We hit the jackpot…..BEST veggie burgers EVER. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Look no further, this the place for lunch or dinner in DesMoines. Please expand to NY & OR.

Wow. What?! The burgers at this place are straight up amazing! The Volcano was perhaps the best plant-based burger I’ve ever had! The spice, the crunch—everything was just enough. I did NOT want to share with my husband. He got the Bel Air. That burger was great too, but we both really preferred the Volcano! The fries were good, but nothing particularly special. We really liked the minimalist, clean vibe. AND, as they mention on their website, this is a non-pretentious vegan joint. It was quite busy when we went, and we even saw families with children enjoying the food their! The keep their food cheap, which is great word play on the restaurant’s name! Not to mention dirt…which plants grow in…anyway—clever name!We don’t live in Des Moines, but will come back here as often as we can for these super clean, super yummy, crave-worthy burgers!

I'm not usually a plant based burger kind of person, but ill say I was amazed at the food here. I had an Austin BBQ burger and the dirt balls. Although I feel like the burger could've used more BBQ flavor, what flavor it did have was very good and the dirt balls were good too. If I'm ever in the area it's definitely someplace I'd be willing to come back to.

Eat here almost weekly with the wife! Even though there isn’t meat on the menu the burgers are filling and super tasty, savory and delicious! Can’t go wrong! Fries are salty and good! The Mexican Chocolate Espresso or Lil’ Elvis (lots of peanut butter) shake are both super yummy!

As a flight attendant, I like to try veggie burgers from different places on my layovers. I ordered the Original Dirt Burger with a side of fries and was very pleased with my dinner! It was a delicious burger, I usually steer clear of any with mushrooms but I couldn't detect them in this burger. So even of you don't like mushrooms, order it anyway! I loved it. Thank you for having such a wonderful, vegan restaurant

Best burgers in Des Moines!!! Christopher is an absolute angel. The food was exceptional!! We tried the Cobra Kai, perfectly cooked, just spicy enough to keep ya warm. 10000/10 will recommend to everyone! Can't wait for Dirt Burger to make their way to Vegas!!!
