Really fast and creative pizza. Gluten free pizza and if I recall they even had gluten free cheese bread. Sort of like a bar-diner experience not a lot of chairs.
Great place. It's an old Chinese restaurant that serves creative pizza on a cracker thin crust. Definitely worth a visit.
We needed a late night place that served alcohol and food and Fongs was the spot. Had great customer service and we we seated quickly as well as bought our food fast. Nice little spot for a quick bite before hitting the downtown
Excellent thin slice pizza with a little bit of zing. We got our pizza to go but the place itself is urban funk with a touch of a South Sea's garnish. I love places where single people congregate at the bar - such a cosmopolitan feel.
Came in on a Wednesday afternoon, only 3 customers in the whole store, but not an employee to be found for about 10 minutes, when she did finally greet us, all she asked is if we found anything we liked since we had to manage to find a menu on our own. We saw there was no pizza by the slice at the time… disappointing. Employees weren’t very helpful for a couple who had never been to fongs before and we’re looking to try something new, sadly don’t think I will be returning to this location.
Great spot late night for slices of pizza, honey garlic Alfredo being my fav. Good luck getting a table!
4.5 stars, very good food without exactly blowing me away, but they have such a fun and eclectic selection of food and drinks. Maybe a bit iffy on the cultural appropriation side of things. Would definitely eat there again
Cool, funky place. The tiki bar part of the concept was well done - tasty drinks! The dragon wings were amazing. The BDF taco pizza was a very good taco pizza, for those who like such a thing. The orange chicken pizza was a neat concept, but not great in execution. The cheesecake egg rolls were spot on, though.
Unique pizza toppings that are amazing! This place is very busy at most times/days, but it's worth the wait.
Came to Fong’s on a recent trip and was so glad we went! The atmosphere is great—from the amazing server at the counter, to the hundreds of band stickers on the bar—this place feels “right”. The food was great—our group ordered the Rangoon pizza, an orange chicken pizza, the cheese egg rolls…everything was excellent! There was a wait, but it was worth it.
It's fun to see the original...great decor and the pizza was good. The staff was very nice. The Cherry Blossom drink was too salty. Also, it was a bit dirty. We moved from the back to the front bar area again, because you can smell the bathroom from the dining area. We like the pizza at the Ankeny location better.
Highly recommend this place. Have been there so many times. Always really good. Try the thanksgiving pizza. So good!! Or the crab Ragune pizza. The service could be a little better but not terrible. Clean place.
Unique atmosphere and amazing pizza. A great memory from my visit to Des Moines.
I work for door dash and time is money. My dead grandma could make the food faster. No longer accepting orders from here. The staff don't help you and the line got 5 deep for several minutes before anyone decided to come help. The order for just one small salad was over 15minutes pasty pickup by time. For a simple salad. My. Dead. Grandma. Could. Make. The. Food. Faster. And yes, rude bartender chick. After seeing all the reviews about the bad bartender why in the hell is she still employed there?
The food is great. The crab Rangoon pizza is a must try. There's a reason it was featured on Food Network. The staff is very friendly, but the you feel workers service skills are much to be desired. They could use a good cleaning too. Our booth was not very clean. Lots of crumbs in the back of the chairs. Think next time we'll do takeout.
