5/5 as far as airport food goes! In comparison to a lot of other options or packaged food items, this place is a clear winner.Staff is friendly (Iowa nice!), food is quickly served, delicious, and filling. It's worth a quick stop in between or before a flight!

I waited there for 30 minutes no one would ever come take my order. I walked up asked the bartender if I could order food there she said to sit back down and someone would come take my order. Several times a waiter started walking toward my table and then stopped and turned around and walked away. I waited another 20 minutes very patiently and then I left. They weren't very busy at all, I am not hard to please as I work in the food service industry myself so I get it, but man this was frustrating.. Sadly, no one could be bothered.

6am waiting at the Des Moines airport - Liza was fantastically phenomenal! Great service and conversation as we were heading out on vacation. Our trip is off to a great start because of her!

This is my second time here. The first time the lady behind the bar took my drink order and ignored me for the next 20 minutes. This time was different. Had a breakfast sandwich which was peanut butter, banana, fried egg and bacon between two pieces of French toast. So, if your not concerned about your health and you want something different, this is a different something. Service was fantastic.

Had an awesome pre-flight brunch with a bloody mary and the biscuits and gravy which were in the top three best i’ve ever had. The food exceeded my expectations today. And our bartender Brian was great! Awesome start to our day of travel

My friend and I sat at the bar and were quickly greeted with a friendly smile. Our drinks were spot on and our food came out hot and delicious. The ladies behind the bar and servers on the floor were friendly and quick.

EXCELLENT meals for both wife and I at Portermill inside the Des Moines International Airport. Wife had cheeseburger and fries, I had the Chicken Taco salad. (pics of both.) Our waitress was Lakiesha, and she greeted us with a smile and took care of us in fine fashion. Yeah folks, this place can be VERY busy during peak times. Arrive early, be patient, and enjoy yourself.

Our flight was delayed this morning because...IOWA WINTER... Brian, the morning bartender, was amazing! He worked so hard and killed it. Because of the delay, we had breakfast AND lunch and both were amazing.

Stopped in with a co-worker since our flights were delayed. I inquired about the wings and got super excited when I was told they were "whole wings." I went with the mill dust seasoning and a sour beer on tap (can't remember the name). The wings were SO good and the beer was nice and cold. The wing order consisted of six whole wings for $17, which considering wing prices nowadays, the fact that they were whole wings, and that this restaurant is inside the airport, is not a bad price at all.

I work there. The crew is pretty good and they try very hard to be prompt even when they are swamped. Love the food. But I may not be impartial. Like I said I work with these people.

I arrived before the dinner rush and sat and waited for a burger and fries for 30+ minutes, watching people who arrived after me get served meals. Eventually I just cashed out on my drink and soup when they couldn’t figure out what happened to my order. I do hope mine was the only order missed tonight. The only thong that came out was a corn chowder with tomatoes, which I’d give a 3/5; it was somewhat bland and the tomato didn’t really add anything beyond some texture to the soup which had a grainy texture, maybe too much flour in the mix?Oh, and multiple soda lines were broken so no diet Coke; which is more an observation than a criticism. Can I be a little obtuse in wondering, how is this place only pulling a 3-ish star rating? The prices are good for an airport restaurant and it’s really the only game in town. While that can breed complacency it should also be an encouragement to produce a solid product because middling quality looks terrible when there’s nothing against which to compare it. Based on the location this place should be able to pull a 4* rating, easy.

Food was lukewarm and frankly pretty bland. I had the rachel and was looking forward to tasting the cranberry coleslaw that comes on it. However there was maybe a tablespoon of it on my sandwich which was overpowered by the thousand island. The corn chower was ok. Everything was OK. Probably won't eat here again on my next DSM stop. UPDATE: spent the last 24 hours with stomach cramping and diarrhea.

Brandy was the best bartender at an airport I’ve ever had, kept up the entire bar all night and served 10/10 drinks, food was also excellent - try the pretzel or the cheese curds
