Decided to try a BBQ joint while visiting Des Moines. Great decision! Food was great! Service was great! Food came out fast! Very reasonably priced for being a smoke house. They also have a number of sauce flavors, which you can buy bottles to take home. A few other dessert options as well to take home. Wish I had a restaurant like this 5 hours north in MN! This place is kind of a joke. Arrive at 1:30 pm on a Friday and no burnt ribs, no brisket, no nachos…. You just walk away shaking your head and think who runs a place like this?It is the kind of place that you would never go out of your way to visit.They make it feel like you are doing them a favor — this place does not deserve the time.

It was our first time trying this place and we loved the food and Juan's service was great, from the moment he saw us thinking about what to order he was more than willing to help us and recommend what to try. Thanks to him we had a very nice experience

Redneck and I have eaten here several times it’s really good and I always eat the potato with pork (the pork is awesome) but for some reason it always comes out cold ( the pork not the potato) which is weird to me. Other wise it’s great place to eat.

It’s located on 2nd floor inside the building, so if you are not from here like me, that’s where it is.The ladies working today were super nice and helpful.I got the platter 2 meats, pork and briskets. The flavor was great but the brisket was dry (that’s why the 4 stars). The sassy bbq sauce is great. Buying a bottle to take home with me.The sides were delicious as well.I do recommend this place. Will come again when in town but won’t be getting the brisket.

I pass by this place during my daily walks in the Skywalk. I grabbed lunch here and ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and two sides: Mac and Cheese with Potatoe Salad. The only thing I ate was the buns and Mac and cheese. The Sassy BBQ sauce was really good. I'm giving only 1 star because the potatoe salad completely ruined my experience. It tasted like a chemical taste. It was hard too explain the taste but I took another bite and it tastes and smells like a sharpie. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or if it just tastes like this but I don't think potatoe salad is supposed to taste like a strong chemical. As I'm writing this I'm getting bad acid reflex from it.

Ordered the lunch platter. Food was very good, and the prices were good as well, but the hot sauce wasn't very hot at all.

So I decided to have Smokey D's for lunch and try the loaded baked potato, it was delicious! I added burnt ends to my potato for an extra charge of $1.50. As the potato is very large, the cheese sauce runs off into the container. As a result, my only suggestion is to ask for a side of cheese sauce. I went to the location in the skywalk before 11:30am to beat the crowd. I'm so glad we did because the ribs are only available on Wednesdays and it's normally a crowd. The location in the skywalk is nice but there is not a lot of space inside to sit and eat. I will definitely have it again soon.

Just stopped in for a sandwich. Settled on the chopped pork. It took about 15-20 minutes to get the sandwich. It was still very busy from the lunch rush, about 1:00 pm. I didn't use any of their sauce as I prefer to Taste the flavor of their smoke. I also didn't get around to eating it for about 90 minutes. The flavor was about the best I've had in Iowa. Even the flavor of the toasted bun came through and was delicious. There was a good amount of meat which wasn't dry at all and melted in my mouth. They are the best in Des Moines IMO.

Service was very bad the lady that took my order was very rude and short with me I told her I was going eating for dinner she said "they were close," trun back on me left the food that I got was not what I want I told I wanted sausage and I got pork

Is worst barbecue I've ever had way way way too salted they only give out drinks by the drink because you're Is eating so much salt you think they would give you Free refills even charge water I believe worst place to ever eat barbecue I do not recommend it don't go if you have high blood pressure They even put way too much salt on the sides Which were very tiny
