Smokey D's catered my wedding this last weekend and was amazing! They were early for delivery, set up all of the wire racks, and the food was delicious! People were raving about it all night! We also had a ton of leftovers that are just as delicious heated up the next day!

I just have to give a HUGE shout out to Smokey D's!!! I handle the ordering whenever we have a lunch event at work. This is Engineer's Week and they asked for Smokey D's for their lunch (as they do every year). I have to say that without exception, the food is always on time, hot and presented perfectly. There is always plenty and it is absolutely to die for!!!! The brisket melts in your mouth. The corn bread is ridiculously amazing and those scotcharoos!!!!! If you ever need BBQ catered, I highly suggest calling Elizabeth at Smokey D's. You will not be disappointed.

Honestly I just really wanted a baked potato when I walked by and saw a sign saying they had some with your choice of toppings. It was really good! Which is a surprise, because their potato soup is one of the worst soups I have ever eaten. Definitely get the full baked potato and not the soupified version... no idea what happens in between baking and mashing it but it's something truly unspeakable.

Brought two rib platters and the ribs were terrible. They were dry and tough. Either they were over cooked or were sitting to long to be served up. They should be been thrown out and not served to a customer. This was very disappointing because this makes the second time I have issues with my carryout ordered. I will not be back.

The food was good, the price was too. The inside was clean, and the staff was friendly. I would eat there again.

Smokey D's Food Truck came to Iowa Methodist to serve sandwiches to our team members. We had an amazing response and more attended than expected. They went above and beyond and were able to get more food to feed our staff than originally planned. They were great to work with from the beginning planning stages until the very end. The entire crew with the food truck were great to work with and so very kind to our staff. ALL enjoyed the food and the event. THANK YOU Smokey D's for making the event such a success and helping to celebrate our team members!

customer service sucked to say the least. i spent $25 dollars on potato soup, each container filled a 3rd of the way. i called to complain and the man i talked to basically told me tuff luck and go somewhere else. he did nothing to resolve the issue. I have made sure to give smoky d's business for last 11 years. after the way I was treated I will be going elsewhere.

Extraordinary ambience and very personal service. The meals were fresh and delightful. Will easily recommend this restaurant to my friends. Convenient prices and large meals. Great work.

Checked out Smokey D while dropping off my nephson at Grand view University.....the coaches there told us u must try this place to compare to The great state of Texas bbq joints........Smokey D’s did not disappoint. We had the rib and wing basket and it was outstanding........the potato salad and beans are a must. The place has won tons of awards and has a wide variety on the menu. If ur in Iowa near the downtown area Smokey D’s is a go to for bbq.

Good as advertised. Had a half order of barbecue nachos. I’d hate to see that large platter...probably come out in a #3 washtub. Excellent burnt ends

I stopped at Smokey D's because of several recommendations that I NEEDED to try it while in Des Moines. It isn't far from my hotel, so I made it over there today. It's easy to get to from the interstate, so that was nice. When I went in, they're currently doing carry out only. The woman who checked me out was friendly, and she enthusiastically recommended the burnt ends and the brisket, both of which are upcharges from the standard. She said that's what they're known for, and also recommended a couple things that didn't have upcharges. I ordered the two meat dinner so I could try both. I also ordered the baked beans and mac & cheese. I was served my meal quickly. I'm not generally a big fan of beef, but the brisket ended up being my favorite part of the meal. The burnt ends were also spectacular, but the brisket had just a little bit more really good flavor. The baked beans were solid and the mac & cheese was decent. I generally don't use BBQ sauce because it's my opinion that if your BBQ is truly good, you don't need the sauce, but I took what was recommended to me, and it was pleasant as well. I'd definitely make a point of stopping here again if I spend much more time in Des Moines. It was certainly worth the around $15 for my meal (I got two meals out of it).

Called for an order at 5:45 on Sunday, unfortunately at this time they were done taking orders for the night... they close at 7. I get it, hard times, but that’s pathetic to me.
