While I've always enjoyed the festive atmosphere and holiday themes at this establishment, I must express some disappointment with the service during my recent visit. I suggest implementing a more organized hosting system rather than allowing guests to seat themselves. On a busy Saturday night post-Valentine's Day, we experienced a lengthy wait of about 15-20 minutes at our table without a greeting from staff until we flagged someone down for menus. It was an even longer wait to order drinks and appetizers. Despite being there for over an hour, we only ordered an appetizer and drinks as our server never came back until we asked for a bill. Overall, I believe this place excels in food and ambiance, but improving the organization and staffing levels would greatly enhance the customer experience.

I love this place. I moved from Chicago and found it difficult to find a place that was casual, but also had high quality food. The Republic nailed it with the food, drinks, and service! The Sous Chef, Sean Clemons came out to our table and offered us a free dessert (which was fantastic), while telling us about their new menu. The price for the quality is definitely worth it and the venue is one of the best in Des Moines.

Always a great place for either a casual hangout with friends or a nice dinner! Chef Sean Clemons was very nice and personable and came to our table to give us a free dessert that will be on the menu soon. He stopped and chatted with us about new things they are starting to implement in the restaurant as well as where they get inspirations from. Great place for dinner or a drink anytime of the day!

I hopped in for a drink after my haircut tonight, and ended up having an incredible meal too! The soup of the day at places is usually fine, but holy shit this blew my socks off. It was a chicken verde soup, and it had the flavors of a perfect chicken enchilada while being a perfect, warming soup. Then, the chef was testing a new menu item and sent out the most decadent cookie cast iron creation with toffee, pretzel, carmel, and chocolate chips, to test out, and wow it was delish! The team was so nice, and turned my post haircut drink into such a nice evening. The drinks and food were both delish! I'll be back soon!

Food was great, the chef was accommodating and the atmosphere was relaxing, with good music. The waitress was super friendly but did not check on our needs often one thing I would say is maybe offer mid level seating for those who are handicap. The furniture is low and the high tops are hard to get into.

We came to the Republic on Grand to celebrate a birthday. They have great service & and great atmosphere and the people in our group said their cocktails were tasty! The chef even offered a complimentary dessert. Overall such a great experience and I'd recommend it to anyone!

This is a beautiful restaurant with great views! Great date “experience”. Parking is the only downfall if I’m being honest, however, there is a parking garage almost across the street ($1 per hour) that was very convenient. The appetizers were delicious and our waitress was very attentive. Highly recommend!

We had the best time at Republic in Grand. We went for Valentine’s and enjoyed all the food and dessert. My husband started out with their deviled eggs as an appetizer and said they were great. He got their meatloaf for his entree and he loved it. I got the Feb. heart shaped ravioli and absolutely loved it I anted to eat the whole plate but knew I was saving room for the desserts. I wanted all the desserts so tried the dessert board with so many desserts and they were all so yummy! The drink I got was the isn’t she lovely and I would have liked it a little sweeter but it was ok. I also got a glass of wine they were out of Moscato so our server suggested a dessert wine and she said if I didn’t like it she could get me something else, but it was a great wine. Overall it was a wonderful time.
