First time to Waveland Cafe. The food here was pretty good! We had a party of 3, no one complained about the food, and we are all pretty picky, so that was a success. Service was friendly & quick. If it's your first time, two things to be aware of parking & space are a bit limited. your entire party must be present to be seated.

My dad and I stopped in and met an old college friend of his for breakfast. The cafe definitely has a unique neighborhood vibe to it that it leans into. The breakfast dishes are very midwest traditional so make sure to bring your appetite. Everything we ordered came out fresh and hot. We had no complaints and would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a great breakfast off the beaten path.

You won't find a better neighborhood place to have really good hot food and great atmosphere. The staff that work there have been there for years and as long as I have been going there they are had maybe 5 new people come to work there and that is over the past 35 years. That's just shows how good of an owner Stoney is to have people stay and work for you not just for a year or so but for their whole career.

10-10:30am. The place was packed and did manage to get a table. Waitress was never able to serve us. We move to an available booth (without them knowing?)Still was not able to get service.Like I said, the place was packed, and maybe the 3 staff members that were there, was just so overwhelmed maybe they were not prepared for being so busy. Ended up @ the Ankeny Diner.
Even with it being busy we were able to get seated quickly. The server was great and attentive. The food was also good and served fairly quick. The hashbrowns have to be the most perfect hashbrowns I've ever had at any restaurant. Will definitely recommend.

Amazing atmosphere and food. Best hashbrowns ever. Small so you may have to wait but that adds to the diner feel. Omelets are amazing as well but do not leave without having the hashbrowns. My go to is always the everything hashbrowns no mushrooms.Kid-friendliness: Staff very helpful with my son as he ordered. Hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows. Very nice environment for a kid as well. Lots to look and and talk about.
