“In a few strip malls, you can find some gems. The decor may be minimal, but the food and service is what counts. I ordered Original Thai Tea served as a canned drink, A Small Cup of Egg Drop Soup with loads of ingredients besides the Egg Drop, 2 Egg Rolls, and a Plethora of Pad Thai Chicken which can serve four people. Each dish was served piping hot, delectably delicious with a wealth of favors. This is a local family business you should put on your to try list.“
“This place is the best. We are from Minneapolis and when we travel we ALWAYS stop here. The flavors are super fresh. There is no strange after taste or muddy flavors. I recommend this place to everyone.I try a new item each time. I have never been disappointed.Good sized portions. Many items can be shared.Regarding spices: mild is medium, medium or hot, hot is blazing. Sometimes we discuss it more so we get the levels set.The staff are very accommodating. This is located in a newer multi-tenant building. It is super clean and nicely decorated. They have a sizeable bar room with a couple of large screen TVs (in case you want to ignore your dinner companions).Vegetarian options: This place defines most items as vegetarian or vegan (no special notes) and you add meat or tofu as you wish. I get the fried tofu. It is soft and delicious. I can't say if all sauces are vegan, you need to ask that.I lived as a vegan for 18 months. This place was never an issue for me.Dietary restrictions: See vegetarian optionsParking: Parking surrounds the building. We have never had an issue for dinner. Except the year kids crashed the place for prom.“
“Been to Wasabi a couple of times since they moved to their new location in Johnston. Love the ambience, food is great and staff is friendly. I sit up at the bar and Tyler always makes sure I'm taken care of and offers great conversation and suggestions. I love the spicy Mexico roll and the Gyudon (comfort food). These are both pictured.“
“Having lived in a lot of big cities including Los Angeles and Dallas I've had a lot of Dim Sum, and I gotta say it's pretty rare to find one this good that makes their food by hand. Everything we've tried here is delicious, and the price is so reasonable for the amount of food that my husband and I came here for our fifth anniversary. The fried dumplings are filled with hand chopped meat and so flavorful. The shrimp dumplings with chive are delicious. I'm pretty sure my husband could eat 100 char siu baozi and never get sick of them. Everything they make has a lot of care put into it, and as someone whose has made a lot of these dishes growing up myself I can tell you they require skill and knowledge to get right. This is why a lot of places just use frozen premade foods reheated in the steamers. The restaurant itself doesn't look the nicest, but look past that and give it a try when they're serving dim sum and you won't regret it.“
“We love finding a good local Chinese restaurant. Panda Express and P.F. Chang's have are fine, but nothing beats the authentic taste and nostalgia of local Chinese restaurants. We have been going to this place for several years and they always satisfy us. The interior is cozy and small, and the business is owner-operated. They have a separate traditional menu that is worth trying, but also worth gate keeping. It features Korean-Chinese fusion dishes that are delicious and unique. Everything is fresh and cooked to order. Our orders are usually so hot from the wok that we have to wait a few minutes before digging in. The owners and staff are very friendly, and the service is extremely fast. The number of local Chinese restaurants in the city has dwindled over the past decade, so finding a little gem like this is a treat for us whenever we crave some freshly cooked Chinese food.“
“The food is always great and they have a lot of delicious gluten free options! I brought some friends with last night and they loved the food and said they'd definitely be going back for more! Prices are reasonable too!Dietary restrictions: A lot of gluten free options!“
“Took trips through today. I won’t need to eat again today. ?Service was fantastic! She made sure we didn’t have an empty glass.Food was great as usual. Always fun to watch the food cook. Those guys rock!Great experience today and highly recommended.“
“Friends visiting offered to go grab lunch and asked what I wanted. The wife called in our order and the husband drove to get it. The 3 of us agreed it was fast and delicious but not too heavy that we felt stuffed. We will definitely return here. YUM!“
“This place has the best “Pot Stickers” in Des Moines! So friendly and hardworking! They offer so many different meats and veggie dumpling combinations! My favorite are the pork with Napa cabbage, but my mother prefers the chicken and Napa cabbage! Make sure you get them with the crunchy chili oil! You’ll find them at the Valley Junction Farmer’s Market on Thursday evenings, the Downtown Farmer’s Market in Des Moines on Saturday mornings, as well as Kitchen Spaces in the Drake Neighborhood on Sunday nights!“
“I picked up carryout from Shang Yuen yesterday and it was great. I called ahead and my food was ready in less than 10 minutes. (I would have tried the website ordering but it requires a login to order which is reasonable, I just didn't have time.) When I got there the counter service was excellent and the lady who helped me was happy to help me.I got Hot Braised Chicken (5 stars spicy) and it was perfect. The meat quality was good and not stringy. My food was still (temperature) hot when I sat down to eat. It had a ton of the entree and even came with 2 crab rangoons. I also got an order of crab rangoons and they were great too. I shared the crab rangoons with coworkers and they enjoyed them as well.I look forward to going back!“
“We had a large group that came in fairly staggered. They very very accommodating and friendly. We had several requests for substitutions and most we accommodated. Good food and good portions. Will definitely go back again when I'm in the area!“
“Absolutely delicious! Loved everything we got. Really like the chow fun. Very few places have that. I also liked that they have a bar area where they were playing a game I wanted to watch. Wasn't expecting that. Very quiet atmosphere. We will definitely be going back.“
“This is a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. No bells and whistles just good food. I see all these 1 star reviews and i definitely don’t agree with any of them.Stop out and support a small local business. Don’t expect fine dining just come for what it is…….DELICIOUS!Vegetarian options: Veggies and rice, looks like any dish can be vegetarian option and they have some good spring rolls“
“If you're in the mood for 'Chinese ' this is one of the best around. Alway super friendly staff and fast and fresh service!!! The Crab ragoons are addicting!
