I almost vomited just writing this review. I think it is best if these new owners close this restaurant. This is the absolute worst restaurant and food ever. If you like dirty, unclean seafood and gunmy rice or unsanitary handling of your food then this is your place. Good luck!

Food is ok-ish, but restaurant smells musty inside like grandma’s old sweater

Been ordering here for a while. Today was the last day. Food taste like straight cardboard. My son loves rice and he was absolutely disgusted. They didn’t give me my egg rolls i paid $50 sum odd dollars. For food. When I called to try to get something figured out. They didn’t want to remake my food. They didn’t want to refund me. They told me I had to bring the food back if I wanted new food. (I did delivery) and all I have to say is if little kids get sick or me. They gone be paying me with bigger coins. When the lady asked me if I wanted all 3 fried rices remade. I say yes. She says “no we aren’t going to do that either” umm why did you ask. And I have the whole conversation on record. Cause people like them like to play. What happened to customer is right ?

New owners and food is now awful. One star is too generous. So disappointing! One item was made incorrectly and one item was omitted completely. The item made incorrectly was inedible due to a food allergy ingredient that they didn’t leave out.The solution I was offered was a ridiculously small percentage (like 10% I think) off a $20+ order. I said I would just like a refund for the missing item and was told no because she said people try to get free food. I told her I didn’t want free food, I would like the money for the item they neglected to send. I also explained that it wasn’t worth my time to call and hustle them just to try to get an item “free”. I said I didn’t want to have to spend more money with them just to get my money “back”…a ridiculous policy, if we are being honest. I politely told her I didn’t care for the food and didn’t want to order more. Her approach to the whole situation was off-putting. I told her we had been going there for almost 15 years - between the altered recipes/food and the way she dealt with the missing item, we will not be going back. We are bummed, as it used to be our favorite place.Mistakes happen, understable…but when you assume all of your customers (loyal ones to boot) are out to get you…the business isn’t off to a good start.Edited to add: I just read other reviews of the new owners and am sad (but not surprised) to see that others had very similar experiences.

Got it admit I was a little suspect when the new owners took over. Even better than before will order 1 million more times! Great job gang, don’t let up.

I'd give it a 3.5 start but will round up do to it being locally owned. I wanted delivery on a weekday. I scoured for a new Chinese spot (since my favorite doesn't actually deliver). I came across Best China that does in-house delivery. Perfect. Plus, I could order online. We ordered a plethora of appetizers. (The rangoons were a fam fav.) As well as the sweet and sour chicken. (Another hit, especially with the kiddos.) The only thing I will say that we would never order again would be the dumplings. You can order online, which I love. I did so and got to choose when I wanted it delivered. I entered my credit card information... but for whatever reason it didn't register that I wanted to pay that way and I ended up having to pay cash. (Don't get me wrong, I like that they have that option for people-- just wasn't expecting it at the time.) Overall, this is a solid spot on the East side of Iowa City. This spot has been serving up tasty dishes for over a decade now-- that has to count for something! If you want to try something new, Best China is a great option.

The food is very good (I've had hunan chicken, schezuan chicken, kung pao, beef with brocolli, beef with chinese vegetables, and other items) and the prices are great, especially lunch special. My mom likes the house special chicken (a nice black pepper chicken with shredded lettuce.) I have not tried online ordering, I just phone in and have not had a problem. Recommended!
