I definitely miss some of the old menu items, but thats maybe the worst thing i could say because the food Blue Bird has is really good currently. Love staff, they seem to handle the lots of people there so well every time, if they are stressed you'd never know. Love them! <3Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options! Yay!

I think they changed owners. They have the same menu but the taste and quality of the food is not the same.

I had a pretty simple breakfast order, hash browns, eggs, toast and two sausages patties. Also got a side pancake with grilled banana and cinnamon roll.Hash browns are good, eggs cooked well and toast, well it's hard to go wrong there. The sausage patties are hand made and over mixed. They are uneven patties, so the outside is cooked more than the middle. They are over-pressed which makes it hard, and definitely needs some seasoning. The pancake was plain and lacked flavor.Coffee was a mild roast and pretty decent, the server was great. Cinnamon rolls was delicious and went well with the coffee.Next time I'm in Iowa City I will definitely give them another try.

While in Iowa City, we found the most delicious place for breakfast Bluebird Diner. Every single thing we got was amazing.I had to try a little of everything that included omelet, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and the bacon. My wife got the Belgian waffle and my daughter a hamburger. I loved the biscuits and gravy the most. The gravy was almost a little sweet and the biscuits cooked perfectly with just a bit of crunch. My other daughter got the hot chocolate and was in heaven. The bacon could have been cooked a little more for my liking but I also did not ask for it crispy. The place had a really cool old-school feel and the staff was all amazing.Very cool area but I can tell the parking might be a little crazy so be sure and check what time you are going and the traffic. Lots to see in the area and some very cool artwork on the buildings.

The food was good, service was OK but the Bloody Mary was awful! Just plain old tomato juice with no discernible alcohol. The interior is pretty stark but truly diner-esque.

We have been waiting to come here for 8 months. Every time we have passed by, they were busy. Today we went early and we sat right down. At first the restaurant wasn't loud - it wasn't busy either but within the hour, patrons were standing at the door. We were served right away and the waitress was amazing. Steak and Pancakes were good, biscuit were fresh and the gravy was different. We might come back here at some point but it won't be the next place we try. And the atmosphere was just right.
