Very stingy with the cream cheese if you order a cream cheese bagel. Definitely not an adequate amount for eating both halves of the bagel. But my real issue with this place is that they charge you significantly more for a cheese-jalapeño bagel than they do for a plain or sesame. Before moving to Iowa City I had been getting bagels from Brueggers for years (since the 1990s) without ever getting charged extra for my favorite type of bagel.

Food is spot on. Efficiency is not. Line to the door. OK, they're busy, I get it.One guy taking money and making all the drinks. Horribly inefficient. Long long-haired guy is great, sings, good attitude, seems to be there every time we go in, but the shorter dark-haired guy is their best employee. Saw that the cash register was the bottleneck and stepped off the line to check out 4-5 customers while the normal cashier made coffee drinks. If a fair portion of your business is hot/cold drinks, that needs a dedicated employee. Perhaps they're short-handed, but it was a significant wait and it wasn't due to food preparation. Also always seem to have water leaks. I notified a guy behind the counter of the leak all over the floor and he just said "It's a never-ending battle" and shrugged it off. Huge slip hazard, light fixture literally hanging from a water-logged ceiling tile while water steady streamed onto the concrete floor.

I normally love brueggers, but I went in today and ordered my usual sandwhich. They had 2 everything bagels left which is what my sandwich is made on. I waited for 20 minutes while they served everyone who ordered after me. I finally went up to the counter and was like where is my sandwich? They told me they were out of those bagels even tho they had them when i placed my order. It was ridiculous how they just skipped over my order and then sold the last of those bagels.

Have been coming here for a while and the standard has slowly dropped. Hours are wrong online, workers are rude (one was playing music off his phone) and interrupted my order trying to get me to pay, half the menu wasn’t available even though I thought all the bagels were available until close(?), and hardly any cream cheese on my bagel and only half on my girlfriends.. will be going to other places from now on.

I love the food here and have been a patron since it opened. One of the great features is that the food is prepared in front of you. In the past, the food handing and hygiene had been at a high level but this seems to be slipping. Recently, on two occasions, I saw one employee (same person both times) not change his gloves at all. He made a sandwich, then went to the cash register, made change, then went right back to picking out bagels and starting another sandwich, all with the same gloves on. Changing gloves regularly is standard procedure when tasks alternate between handing food and non-good items. Next time I see this happen, I am going to ask him to change his gloves, even if it is awkward.

Honestly I should leave good reviews more often… today I was having a bad day and who im assuming is the manager just brightened my day. His energy was refreshing, and it was busy and the team was moving very fast and as a group! will always go here and recommend this location vs their drive thru on riverside

Stopped in and ordered 6 bagels.Just 6 bagels, no frills. After waiting 15 minutes, I finally had to ask for a refund to make my meeting.And when I ask for a refund, the women that took my money, asked the other worker to give me a refund.In the time it took for both of them to figure out how to give me a refund, they could have easily thrown my 6 bagels in a bag, and sent me on my way, but it never even crossed either one of there minds.Just had to put 6 bagels in a bag, but instead spend 3 times the time refunding my money, which they short changed me on.What happened to this place?Apparently online, and drive-thru orders are WAY more important than walk-in customers.

The website said they closed at 7:00 p.m., we got there at 3:00 the door was open no one was around and the bagel bins were absolutely empty so we shut the door and left. My review isn't necessarily for the food Bruegger's Bagels is amazing it was just the fact that they need to make sure advertised hours are what they are

Brian with the long hair is carrying this business on his back. Needs some serious ops management but the food is amazing and the employees are all super nice. It's just a management issue at this point.
