Visited BH for lunch and while the service was great and attentive, the food was lack luster. Very run of the mill burgers with little seasoning. Kind of just like any burger you’d grill at home. Chicken sandwich was dry and seemed to be frozen beforehand. I think a lot of things are double fried but to a fault, like the onion haystack. Mine were so over fried they didn’t even taste like onion anymore, just fryer oil. The interior is just like any other downtown bar and pub. No real decor or ambiance. Our waiter was amazing though and very sweet. Very on top of things despite having little staff. We really appreciated them.

Food was excellent. I had a gluten free bun with a beyond burger, and both the bun and patty were perfect. Wonderful atmosphere. Drinks are reasonably priced and tasty as well. Good for small groups! Hands down best burger I’ve had in Iowa City! Burger haul has it all. Clean, classy, and most importantly, reasonably priced while still being delicious! I can’t get over how perfect the burger was and how tasty the onion stacks are. Joe the owner came out to make sure everything is perfect and it was! This gem is easy to pass by, but don’t. It’s all home made and that includes the ice cream and pies as well. Do yourself a favor and drop in, it’s worth every penny.
