Your average college dinning hall. From when it first opened Cattlet was considered pretty high standards for a dinning hall but after COVID it seems like the staffing and it's menu has changed to a standard dinning hall. Less frills and more self serve. Also following is a lot of paper plates, bowls, and plastic utensils. Hopefully they will bring it back to it's former glory after the pandemic.

Good vegetarian optionsGreat salad barVery happy with gluten free refrigerator options! Most of the staff is very friendly and helpfulMade me some fresh pesto on the fly when they were outFor $11.50 it's a great deal considering the prices in the surrounding downtown Iowa City...

If it weren't for the manager Kelli, then this review would be a lot nicer. She is consistently rude, guarding the door and scanning what everyone leaves with. I tried to go back to my dorm with a bagel and she grabbed my arm (I have a bruise from this) and insisted that I have to eat it in the dining hall. I left anyways, with my bagel I might add, because I was simply not going to be treated like this. She chased me down, causing a scene. How she got a job managing a place of food service baffles me.

There is variety but they recycle the same foods a lot. The international station sometimes has "special days" such as noodle bars (build your own udon, pho, pad thai) or a bibimbap bar (build your own rice bowl) but those have only happened once each. They don't announce these occasions.

Everyone is super nice and kind and the food is amazing! Only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is because there’s a guy who works during the end of breakfast consistently who is always so rude and passive aggressive and it puts a damper on my day. He shouldn’t be working with customers...
